Reach Results with Your Resolutions!
How many times have you made a New Year's Resolution? How many of your resolutions were repeated from previous years?
Imagine having the confidence to set a new resolution for this year and actually achieving it. Have you considered setting a theme for the new year instead of just a resolution?
Every year I reflect upon the past year; What I've achieved and what I'd like to continue to work on. In order to create a vision and a context for my new year, I always start my planning by creating an annual theme.
My annual theme is similar to a mini-mission statement that encompasses my personal and business goals. A theme is your main focus for the year that supports alignment with all your activities. This year my theme is "Mastery". This past year has been phenomenal with a lot of new activities, new projects and new roles. So this year, I decided I would like to create a solid foundation that is built upon everything I've developed over the past few years. This foundation is all about mastery. I'm defining mastery in a couple different ways: (a) ease of implementation; (b) expert within a particular area(s); (c) wealth of knowledge; and (d) efficient execution and resourc efulness.
This theme is an overarching mission for myself where my goals are directly aligned with my theme. For instance, my goal of creating 25% growth for my business will be achieved through mastery. Similarly, my weight loss goal will also be achieved through mastery. Creating a theme as your resolution provides you with the 'how' to consistently achieve goals across all areas of your life.
