Say This NOT That!
Did you know that in our communication, only 7% of what is relayed is based on our verbal words? It's true, the other 93% is body language and tone. This would make you think that the words you use, wouldn't hold that much weight then. Right? Well the words that you choose have an unbelievable amount of persuasion when communicating with others.
Consider an attorney who is questioning a witness. If the attorney asks 'how fast was the car going when it smashed into the other car" versus "how fast was the car going when it hit the other car" will generate two different responses. Researchers found that responses in terms of speed when using the word 'smash' were higher than when using the word 'hit.
Below are a few suggestions of word choice when communicating with others: Say This Not That I overlooked I'm sorry You are gracious I appreciate Your work is unparalleled Congratulations You are generous Thank you I contend I disagree
