All Saints' Episcopal Church
News for the Week of July 15, 2012
Dear Friends,

I hope all of you are having a wonderful and restful summer.  The "Wheel of Awesome " is spinning again every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. on the front lawn.  So if you are in town, stop by for conversation, a snack and a beverage.  Our topic of conversation is determined by where the wheel stops - it's always a surprise and lots of fun.  Everyone is welcome and childcare is available.

This Sunday our "Summer of Awesome" preacher is Lora Walsh.  Lora is a parishioner here at All Saints', an Episcopal Priest, and she has served as the Program Director for the Julian Year, an Episcopal Service Corps program.  Lora is finishing up her time here in Chicago and will be joining her husband Josh in Arkansas in August.  We will miss Lora in our diocese and at All Saints', please join as we bid her a fond farewell.

Bonnie has returned from General Convention and she will be able to update us this Sunday on the proceedings and news from this auspicious event.  She will be taking the acolytes to Great America following the acolyte training session on Monday morning.

Have a great weekend, see you all on Sunday!

Note from Padre Byron in Mexico

Karen Howe received and translated the following note from our friends at Santa Maria Virgen:

THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO HELPED US TO ACQUIRE OUR BOOKS OF COMMON PRAYER.

When I began at Santa Marķa Virgen in January, 2012 , the

re were 10 books of Common Prayer, and 20-35 people were present at services. The books were not sufficient. I am sure that altho

ugh the

book of common Prayer does not replace the

Bible, it is the soul and the spirit of the Anglicanism. It is a work that unifies all Anglican Churches. It is an essential part of our identity.

I believe that all lay people need to know what is in

this book, not only to use it every Sunday during the Eucharist and then to put it aside until the next week. Through the use of the book we can discover the wealth, both liturgical and spiritual, it contains for our development as Christians. Many people have asked me how they can obtain this book.

A thousand thanks to all those of the parish of All Saints, we all here are grateful. I believe that we have never received that many books (4l). Thanks to Reverend Bonnie, Karen and David for motivating you. Now our task is to fill the Church, of having more parishioners. May God bless you all.
