All Saints' Episcopal Church
News for the Week of July 8, 2012
Dear Friends,

We are now in the midst of "The Summer of Awesome", and with that comes "The Wheel of Awesome".  "The Wheel of Awesome begins this Wednesday July 11 at 7:00 p.m. on the front lawn.  This is a great way to connect with folks and have fun and interesting conversation on a variety of spiritual topics.  Please join us! (Child care is available).

Also on July 11 at 7:00 p.m. we are hosting  a prayer service for those participating in the AIDS ride.  Joe Harnden a parishioner will be participating in this 200 mile ride on July 14-15.  Please join me as we bless the riders and pray for those effected by HIV/AIDS. All are welcome.

This month Ravenswood Community Services is saying goodbye to Liz Embler.  Liz a Julian Intern has served as our volunteer coordinator for the past two years.  Liz will be completing her time with us on July 26th.   Liz Embler has done a stellar job and it will be hard to imagine RCS without her.  I have worked very closely with Liz and I will miss her sense of humor, her dedication to volunteers, her pastoral insights, and her love of helping those in need.  Please join us as we celebrate Liz and her ministry with us on Tuesday July 17th at 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall.  We will be holding a roast and toast party with Pizza, salad, desserts and cold beverages. Please RSVP so that we can have  enough food for everyone. Please contact me at fran@allsaintschicago.org or call the RCS office at 773-769-0282.

Lastly, if you are looking for something to do over the summer please join us Saturday July 14, at 8:30 a.m. for out Next Mobile Pantry. This is held in the Ravenswood School parking Lot at 4332 N. Paulina.  We will finish up around 10:30 a.m.  We need volunteers to help set up and pass out food to about 200 people.  Children are welcome.  This month we will provide a continental breakfast for all volunteers at mobile pantry.  This is just one way for us to say, " Thank You" to all of the many volunteers who help make this ministry possible!

Bonnie is attending the Episcopal Church's General Convention in Indianapolis and Liz Embler is with her working for the Chicago Consultation. Andrew Freeman is on vacation and will return to the office on July 11.  If you need anything or have a pastoral emergency please do not hesitate to call the office or you can reach me on my cell phone at 312-401-2058.

See you on Sunday,
Rev. Fran Holliday

The Wheel of Awesome Returns!
Now accepting discussion topic ideas

Want a wonderful evening under the stars with (always) scintillating and (mostly) theologically reflective conversation? Then come join us for our second annual "Summer Salons," starting Wednesday July 11 and continuing every Wednesday until August 15.

We'll meet on the front lawn of the Church (weather permitting) at 7pm.  Bring a lawn chair (if you don't want to sit on the grass or in our beautiful yellow folding chairs) and a snack/refreshment to share (although, some will be provided).  Childcare will also be available.

We will spin the "Wheel of Awesome" for a topic that we will discuss for about an hour and a half.

In preparation for this, we need your help in coming up with interesting theologically/morally/religiously-based topics.  Examples of a past topic were "Bad girls of the Bible" and "Consumerism and morality."  Please submit your ideas to Mike Mattson at mhjmchi@aol.com.

Thanks, and we hope to see you on Wednesday night!
