Dear Friends,
PLEASE VOTE if you haven't yet done so on whether or not we should ask Bishop and Trustees to purchase the property on 4606 N. Paulina. If you are pledging member of the congregation you should have received a ballot on Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. If you did not receive a ballot please e-mail Andrew at andrew@allsaintschicago.org and he'll send you another ballot.
This Saturday (tomorrow!) is our Lenten Quiet Day. It is from 9a to 2p. We'll be exploring celtic spirituality. Please join us for some quiet contemplative time and RSVP here so we have an idea how much lunch we should have available.
On Sunday, our Julian intern, LIz Embler, is preaching. I've heard previews and it's well worth coming to hear. I'll be in the pews at the 8:00 and 9:00 worship services and then I'll be going over to Old St. Patrick's church to preach at their 11:00 mass. No doubt my beloved, deceased grandfather Robert Aloysious Fahey will be smiling!
As part of our vestry's commitment to growing All Saints' each vestry member will be reaching out to parishioners for one-on-one conversations to find out what matters to you and to get your sense of how All Saints' is or isn't making a difference in your life and the lives of the people who have not yet walked through our doors. So don't be surprised if you get a call from one of them inviting you for coffee (or tea). If you'd like to get on one of their calendars--feel free to find one of them on Sunday (their names are listed below) or call Andrew and he'll schedule a conversation for you.
In the meantime--enjoy this amazing break in winter!
And if you haven't please consider registering and then participating in CROSSwalk on Monday, April 2 at 5:30.
All the best,
Bonnie
Vestry:
Dan Acosta, Stephen Christy, Christy Drackett, Ed DuBose, Anneliese Gallagher (co-warden), Jack Garland (co-warden), Sandra Gray, Clare Kunkel, Rick Lumsden, Michelle Mayes, Jeanne Wirpsa

Adult Faith Explorations: Lenten Series

Our Sunday morning series continues this week at 10am in the Parish Hall. We've rescheduled last week's workshop for this Sunday, and hope many of you will come out for this practical and useful seminar. See the full details below:
"Practical Tools for Peacemaking: Assertive Communication & Conflict Resolution Workshop"
In this workshop, we'll learn communication tools for maintaining harmonious and safe workplaces, homes, and communities. Bonnie Needs Help... (no comment)
Do you feel God calling you to pass out Easter Eggs filled with a couple of pieces of candy and an invitation to our Easter Egg hunt? In past years, we've had folks "hop" from door to door offering our neighbors some information on some of our Easter Activities.
Could you be that person this year?
Talk to Bonnie if you can help. We'd like to pass out the eggs next Sunday, March 31st sometime in the afternoon.
ALSO:
Bonnie is looking for someone to help with the work of the Chicago Consultation--the advocacy group she founded to continue moving the Episcopal Church forward on Full Inclusion. Might you be up for printing 800 names on a canvas map? It's a fairly mindless activity --but incredibly important. The task needs to be completed by April 9.
Talk to Bonnie---she really needs your help!
FINALLY...
Want to buy and transport six 3' potted palms for Palm Sunday? Your local Home Depot is a great place for your everyday palm needs, and your local sanctuary needs its appropriate liturgical greenery. Again, talk to Bonnie. She really, really needs your help. Seriously, Bonnie needs help.

Inquirer's Class Where all your questions are answered.
On Wednesday, March 28 & April 4, Bonnie will be leading an inquirer's class geared for people who may be new to All Saints, the Episcopal Church or Christianity. We'll continue with "A Newcomer's guide to our Sunday morning worship service", including an explanation and discussion of the Eucharist.
We'll meet from 7 to 8:30, and if you'd like you can crash the Wednesday night supper group and avoid having your stomach rumble just as we are discussing the pros and cons of transubstantiation! (Don't know what transubstantiation is--you are not alone!) This will be an informal time to take in some theology, history and spirituality and find out a bit more about this quirky place here on the corner of Hermitage and Wilson.

"Palm Saturday" Camp Special children's event
Saturday, March 31st from 10:00am to 2:30pm, children from 4 to 9 years-old are invited to join in a "Palm Saturday" workshop at All Saint's Church in preparation for Holy Week
If your child would like to attend, please R.S.V.P. to Polly Tangora by noon Tuesday, March 27th so that we can plan for food and materials. (773-878-7118 polly@allsaintschicago.org). The group will be limited to the first 25 children, so please reserve early. We ask for a $5.00 fee per child to cover the cost of materials and lunch.
The day will include banner making, singing, and simple crafts. There will be a prayer walk with reflection on the events of Holy Week.
Lunch will be served with prayers and songs as we remember the evening Jesus and his friends celebrated Passover together.
Friends and neighbors (4 to 9 years-old) are welcome to join us. However, Parents of 4 year-olds should plan on attending with their child for the first part of the morning (10:00 to 11:30).

Youth Group Bible study with Bonnie
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John: each author has a different account of Jesus' last days. Each of these gospel writers depicts Jesus saying different phrases as he is dying on the cross. How come? Are they all true? Which one should we believe?
These are just a few of the questions we'll wrestle with in Atrium 3 on Tuesday afternoons from 4:30 to 5:30 March 27 and April 3. Bring your own bible! If you don't have one--we'll supply one--we are after all--a church!

CROSSwalk: Remembrance and Action A Holy Week procession for building safer communities
More than 600 of our young people have been murdered since 2008. As a faith community, we need to help do something about it. Representatives from All Saints', St. James Cathedral, and the Diocese are leading a group of churches and community organizations from the Chicago area for CROSSwalk, a four-mile procession across the heart of the city to remember children we have lost and connect participants with opportunities for action.
CROSSwalk takes place on Monday, April 2, and promises to be a moving way to begin Holy Week. It will step off from St. James Cathedral, proceed through the Loop and stretch across the city to the lawn outside Stroger Hospital, with stops along the way at Daley Plaza and Old St. Patrick's Church. At each stop we will lament the loss of our young people and-- importantly--commit ourselves to efforts that protect children and mitigate violence in our communities. Please join us for all or part of the procession. Buses will be available for those who require transportation along the route. For more information or to sign up, visit www.crosswalkchicago.org.
UPDATE:
Be sure to check the CROSSwalk website each week for a new Lenten meditation as we make our way towards Holy Week. The most recent meditations can be found by clicking HERE.

All Saints' Dance Party!
Celebrating Jesus and Bonnie Perry, in one epic event
Mark your calendars now for the dance event of the season: on Saturday, April 14th at 7:30p, we'll gather to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and the 50th birthday of our Rector. If those aren't occasions for dancing, what is?
We'll have margaritas and other appropriate drinks, snacks, and plenty of music (don't worry, we won't just play "Love Shack" on repeat all night). More details to come, but what more do you need to know? Be there.
All Saints': dancing for Jesus since 1882.

Help Wanted Tutoring Opportunity
For almost a year, now, Karen Howe has been tutoring students in English at Iglesia Cristo Rey, a Hispanic Episcopal church on West Devon. The students are adults who are working hard to learn English and appreciate our help very much. You don't need to be a teacher or speak Spanish. All you need to do is to help a small group (one-three) of students practice their English for a couple of hours (7:00-9:00) on a Wednesday evening.
Would you be willing to help out one Wednesday a month (or more )? Contact Karen (click here to email) for more information or to visit one of our classes.
