Dear Friends,

We did it! 

As of this writing we have raised, through your gracious donations, $99,000 towards fixing the hole in our wall, with several promised donations yet to come.  As you will remember, we had 30 days to raise $75,000 that would then be matched for a grand total of $150,000.  Instead, we have generated $99,000 in just two weeks. I went back to our matching donors and they enthusiastically agreed to match the money raised.  So now we have $199,000 plus the $50,000 that was already in our capital campaign account.  The bid to repair the wall is for approximately $200,000.  Thanks to all -WE HAVE EXCEEDED OUR GOAL!!!!! 

There are times when I look at our sagging, peeling 127 year old structure and I become overwhelmed with the enormity of the task to renovate this holy place.  But then I think of our community, our passion for outreach, our ability over and over again to make our dreams a reality.  And I rejoice.  Knowing that with you and with God we will "rebuild this temple," maybe not in three days but slowly and surely.

For this and for all of you I give thanks to God.

P.S. A portion of my sermon this Sunday will reference our Hole in the Wall campaign. All who wish can then gather in between the 9 o'clock and 11 o'clock worship services for further conversation with the members of the capital campaign committee and the vestry on our next priorities for allocating our remaining capital donations after repairs to the wall have been completed.
