CHAT Festival
 February 16 to 20, 2010

CHAT (Collaborations: Humanities, Arts & Technology)CHAT Festival Logo will draw together the diverse digital resources of the Triangle area in a series of performances, discussions, exhibitions and workshops that explore the ways digital technologies are transforming the practices of the arts and humanities; all on the UNC Campus.

Economic Impact on Downtown:

With an expected festival attendance of 1,500 - 5,000 participants, businesses should expect to see a marked increase in traffic and sales during the 5 days of the festival.  CHAT events will take place in 18 campus locations, most of which are located on the north side of campus, adjacent to Franklin Street.  Additionally, the festival schedule is crafted to allow participants free time in the evenings to experience the downtown culture of Chapel Hill.

How Businesses Can Participate:
1. Create a window or storefront display welcoming CHAT festival participants, perhaps displaying the CHAT logo or a creative representation of digital arts, humanities or technology.
2. Offer a special promotion to festival attendees showing a festival badge.  Percentage discounts, free appetizers, half-price drinks, or special sale sections highlighting CHAT are just a few ideas to get you started!
3. Offer
a special coupon for inclusion in the welcome packet for festival participants.  Contact Jeanine Simmons, jeanine.simmons@unc.edu or 843-5464, to make arrangements.
4. Host a musical showcase, art display, or other special event one of the nights of the festival.

How CHAT Can Help Businesses:
1. Advertisement in special brochure highlighting downtown restaurants and businesses, given to all CHAT participants.
2. Ability to showcase business materials, coupons, flyers, etc. in the CHAT festival headquarters location, the Campus Y, where all participants will check in.  Additional sponsorship opportunities that provide a presence on the CHAT festival website,
www.chatfestival2010.com, and in the festival program, are also available.
3. Increased exposure to over 26,000 university students, staff, faculty, administrators.
4. Make an impression on out-of-town visitors, and showcase the charm and culture of Chapel Hill.
