Note from John -
Big Tent Conference Report

The General Assembly of the PC(USA) moved three years ago to bi-annual meetings. Two summers ago, on that first "off" year, 1500 Presbyterians gathered in Atlanta for the first Big Tent Conference, bringing together for the first time in one place and time a number of annual conferences that previously met separately. The second Big Tent Conference was held in Indianapolis, June 30-July 2 including 9 different conferences or tracks, with 1700 plus in attendance, 8 from Lake Michigan Presbytery. They are listed below and the conference they attended. If you have interest in or questions about those topics contact us. Reflections on our conference experience will be featured in this and upcoming e-bulletins. Follow this link http://jbestblog.blogspot.com/ to my reflections on the worship at the Big Tent. Camp Greenwood Adult Special Needs Camp
During this past week I took time to serve as a "chaplain-in-residence" at Camp Greenwood for the Adult Special Needs Week. I thank my congregation at Jackson First for allowing me to take one week of "Presbyterian-related mission" each year. The theme for every week this summer at Camp Greenwood is the "fruit of the Spirit" found in Galatians 5:22-23, "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control". Communication Corner -
Electronic Community Building for Small Groups
Is one of your members missing due to illness or other circumstance? Use Skype (www.skype.com) so your group can gather in whole. Place the laptop on a chair or on the table so group members can see and interact with your off-site member.
Can't remember all your group member email addresses? No problem, have one person in the group create a Google Group (groups.google.com) with all the addresses. Then only use the Google Group address to send your messages.
Want to catch up and share with your group on your own time? Create a secret Facebook (www.facebook.com) group to guarantee information stays private.
