Cherry Valley Furniture and Equipment

When a faith community closes we pray that its faithful life will take root in other forms. We grieve and yet we live by the promise that God will open new paths before us. The Cherry Valley new church development closed on December 31, 2009.  The legacy of Cherry Valley is the rich nurturing of persons and community that was the unique ministry of the Rev. Dr. Clint Cozier and the people of Cherry Valley. We give thanks for all those ways in which pastor and people responded to the call of God to be faithful.

The legacy of Cherry Valley will also live on in the furniture and equipment that is available to resource the vision and ministry of other congregations. Those items are currently stored in a Grand Rapids warehouse. The items may be viewed on Saturday, February 13 and Wednesday, February 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. If you wish to make an appointment to see the items on either February 13 or February 17 please contact Rich Lichti by phone 616.283.6197 or by email: rlichti@lakemichiganpresbytery.org

A list of available items is below. If your congregation is interested in a particular item(s) please send a letter of application to Rich Lichti, c/o the Presbytery of Lake Michigan, 1511 Helen Avenue, Portage, MI 49002. If you email your letter, please send it to Rich Lichti: rlichti@lakemichiganpresbytery.org

Your letter should include a list of the items in which you are interested, how those items will be used in your ministry, and how these items fit into the larger vision you have for your congregation. The furniture and equipment will be available to you without charge.

The deadline for letters is February 22, 2010. A specially appointed committee, chaired by the Rev. David Baak, will read the letters and on March 1 the committee will make their decisions regarding the disbursement of the furniture and equipment.  You will be promptly notified. Any furniture or equipment that you receive will need to be removed from the warehouse by March 15, 2010.
