Fourth and fifth grade students joined forces to create bar models on the Lower School Lego Learning Wall.  The Bar Model method requires students to draw diagrams in the form of rectangular bars to represent known and unknown quantities, as well as the relationships between these quantities.  Their teamwork and problem solving strategies were on full display during the project.

Admission Open House

Please spread the word to anyone you know who would be interested in attending Rocky Hill. Open House is a great opportunity to tour campus and talk with faculty and the Head of School. It is also a good chance for 5th Grade parents to learn more about the Middle School and 8th Grade parents to learn more about the Upper School in preparation for next year's transitions.

Rally for a Cure
The varsity field hockey team is collecting pink lids from Yoplait yogurt and General Mills cereal for the month of October to raise funds for breast cancer research. There is a jar in Campbell Center in which to deposit lids. 

The varsity field hockey team will play their "Play 4 the Cure" game against Tollgate at 4:00 PM on Thursday, October 18.  This will be a PINK OUT game played with a pink ball, pink lines on the fields, homemade pink jerseys and a pink fundraising bake sale where all the proceeds will go to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation.  Thursday will be a dress down day for US and MS students and faculty to wear pink. 

Love to Sing?
There is an a cappella singing group made up of Rocky Hill parents and some faculty in need of some new voices.  The commitment is minimal -  twice a month throughout the school year. If interested please email Justine Johnson.

Big Winner

Jessilyn Ring '15
recently competed in the Eastern States Exposition (the Big E).  Her dog Twilight won first place in his showmanship class and fourth in obedience. Her team won third in the Dog Knowledge Quiz Bowl and she placed second on the personal Dog Knowledge test.

College Money Matters

During this event, parents with children of all ages (preschool-12) will learn how to plan for college expenses. By examining financial aid calculation methods, families of young children will gain insight about appropriate saving techniques, while Upper School families will learn how to conduct a cost-conscious college search and application process. Standout runner Aidan Latham '13 and girls' varsity soccer goalie Kaylyn Walsh '14 are this week's athletes of the week.

Kayla DiSegna '14 and Courtney Harrington '13 played in the RIIL All-Star game last Saturday. The girls played great and they had a crew of Rocky Hill fans to cheer them on!

Janice Ranaldi attended RHS from 1953-1958 and came by for a campus tour Wednesday. Maureen Palermo, a former kitchen employee and friend, brought Janice by. Janice was the May Queen from the days of the May pole and also brought some RHS memorabilia with her.
