Last Thursday, Belinda Johnson's Grade 3 class ventured to Plymouth, MA for a field trip to The Mayflower II, Plymouth Rock and Plimoth Plantation. The class experienced the conditions on board the Mayflower II and the living conditions on the shore in 1627 at the Pilgrim Village. Not only were the Pilgrims working in their village, but the Wampanoag people were busy demonstrating cooking, playing games, making canoes, and braiding belts for the children. In the craft center, there was a potter creating three handled mugs and a craftsman making the feathers for arrowheads. This was a fantastic end to the social studies unit on Pilgrim settlers.
