Jess Ring '15, won first place in the senior level creative communication category of the state-level 4H Public Speaking Contest on March 3 at the University of Rhode Island.
Pura Vida!
Twelve Upper School students safely returned from an educational ecology trip to Costa Rica. Students saw many tropical species, including leatherback sea turtles, monkeys, sloths and a coral snake! They interacted with students in a local high school, went river rafting, and learned about tropical ecosystems while putting in a lot of hard work to earn their community service hours at the Pacuare Sea Turtle Preserve.

A Bientot!
Eight jolies filles from Grades 7-9 spent 10 days exploring cultural and historical sights of Paris and the Normandy region of France during break. Ascending the Eiffel Tower, strolling the Champs-Elysées, discovering Notre Dame, attending a ballet at the famous Palais Garnier, visiting Omaha Beach and paying respect at The Normandy American Cemetery were just some of the experiences had on this trip. A presentation about the trip will be made at the MS PTL meeting on May 3.
T.J. Carley '16, of Troop 2 East Greenwich, was a 2012 Pope Pius XII Emblem recipient on March 11 at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin presented this award.
Anessa Petteruti '17 represented the independent schools at the Rhode Island State Spelling Bee during break. Anessa survived six rounds, correctly spelling condor, knavery, physique, fennel, infancy and jeopardize. Although she was eliminated in the seventh round, we are proud to celebrate Anessa's stellar performance.

Rocky Hill Enrichment Academy Registration has begun for the spring session of the Rocky Hill Enrichment Academy (RHEA). Choose from a variety for courses, including the newly added Tin Can Robots & Laser Light Pegs, that run from April 9 - May 25. Island Moving Company The Island Moving Company artistic residency program begins on Monday and runs through April 12 for Preschool through Grade 4 students. The residency will include three creative movement classes for each classroom, and the dancers and students will explore choreographic elements, including rhythm, patterns and levels. These concepts are applicable not only to the study of dance, but also to mathematics, science, poetry, imagery, allusion and metaphor. Island Moving Company Special Performance ( For parents and students Grades P-4) Wednesday, April 11 | 2:00 - 3:00 PM | Rocky Hill School Grades 3 & 4 Play Thursday, April 19 & Friday, April 20 | 9:00 - 9:45 AM Students will present The Princess and the Pea either outside of Perkins or in the Flynn Lecture Hall in the event of inclement weather. Jason DeGerlia '19 placed in all four of his events in a recent karate competition. He took third in weapons and sparing and first in the forms and flying kick contest. Kingston Chamber Orchestra Paul Arnold (violin) and Sonya Ovrutsky (Piano) performed for K-5 students Tuesday. The musical journey around the world featured works by Kreisler, Debussy, Bartok and Vivaldi. April is National Poetry Month Lower School students will write, read and celebrate poetry and poets the entire month culminating with "Poetry in the Park" on the green in front of Perkins on Monday, April 23. More information will follow.

There will be a student support meeting for ACE Middle School students. The purpose of this meeting will be a time in which some senior ACE students will reflect on their trials and triumphs in navigating academics in the Upper School with ACE support.

Bianca Ursillo '06 was a Fusion Film Festival finalist for her graduate feature screenplay I'll Tell You No Lies. Fusion Film Festival is a student run festival featuring works from New York University's top female filmmakers, writers, and directors with collaborations from both genders. The eighth annual festival was held March 1-3, 2012.
