Despite the rain, a large number of fans cheered the boys' soccer team on to victory Wednesday.  We hope that community spirit continues this weekend during the drama performances Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 and the boys' semifinal soccer game Saturday afternoon at 1:00.

Rocky Hill is promoting a new monthly storytime and a separate monthly sing-along designed for two to five year olds and their grown-ups.  Learn more.

Upper School 

Latin Competition

Last Tuesday, the Rocky Hill certamen team, composed of Upper School Latin students, travelled to Roxbury Latin School to compete in the first certamen of the year. Freshmen Shane Woolley, Brady Dill, Ray Mancini and Amanda Siegel, affectionately dubbed "Shabranda," finished second in their subgroup and fourth overall.

Middle School 

Island History

Grade 7 students travelled to Jamestown Monday to explore the diverse geology found on the island. Jamestown has a fascinating geologic history where rocks that differ in age by hundreds of millions of years sit nearly side by side, supposedly the remnants of two continental plates colliding very long ago.

Lower School 

Busy Bees

Oliver McMahon '19 and his dad Kevin gave a presentation to the Lower School this week on bees. They both became passionate about the subject when a neighbor suggested they take a course. They showed off their bee "hardware" and explained pretty much all there is to know about bees. Thank you for sharing your passion!

Athletics

Boys' Soccer Update

The boys' varsity soccer team defeated Brimmer and May Wednesday in a thrilling golden goal overtime game.  Read the recap here. Don't miss the home semifinal game Saturday at 1:00. If the boys win that game, they advance to the finals at Northfield Mount Hermon Sunday at 10:30 am.

  

Field Hockey Awards
Several field hockey players were recognized at the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Field Hockey Banquet. Maria Charbonneau '12 and Abby Moylan '12 were selected to the All Academic Team. Abby was also selected to the 2nd Team All Division. Bren Miller '15 made the All Rookie Team and Courtney Harrington '13 received Honorable Mention All Division.

Winter Sports

Middle School programs such as dance, karate and basketball started this week.  Upper School programs such as basketball, yoga and karate will start the week of Monday, November 28. Upper School lifetime fitness will begin Monday, January 9 at Ocean State Fitness Center.

Faculty Spotlight

Upper School math teacher Terry Coes has been invited to attend a meeting of The National Alliance of Presidential Awardees in Mathematics and Science Teaching at the National Science Foundation in Washington, D.C. this weekend.
