COUNCILMEMBERS RICHARD CONLIN AND TIM BURGESS VISIT SLU

On April 3rd, the South Lake Union Chamber Board and the South Lake Union Community Council (SLUCC) hosted a joint meeting to discuss the vision and goals for the neighborhood with Seattle City Councilmembers Richard Conlin and Tim Burgess.

The SLUCC shared a range of "best practice" images of urban form to visually communicate what the SLUCC envisions for the future of the neighborhood. There were images of townhome stoops as podiums for towers above, as well as images of activated streets and open spaces in urban settings.

The South Lake Union Chamber Board shared their goals for 2012 including a successful outcome for density and zoning, moving forward on the West Mercer project, and support for the North Downtown Substation.  Both organizations support implementation of the Mobility Plan into the City's Capital Improvement Program.

Councilmember Conlin and Burgess expressed support for South Lake Union's vision and goals. Both provided thoughtful comments on density and exploring partnership opportunities for the North Downtown Substation site.

The South Lake Union Chamber Board and the SLUCC were thankful to have the attention of the Councilmembers for an hour-long meeting and plan to keep in contact with their offices as development progresses.
