As the Air Chills & Leaves Begin to Fall, Costume Order Time Nears The teachers have been working hard choosing just the right recital costume and music for every class. We are wrapping up the selection process. Ms Bobbi went again this year to Philadelphia in August for a "Factory Preview" with our main costume supplier and to see samples of their entire line before the catalogs were even out. Ms Bobbi and Ms Molly also attended the UDMA Costume Preview Show in Chicago to check things out a bit more. Being able to see all the costumes in person is a big help to us in making our final choices.
The next steps are measuring and selecting the correct sizes. You may notice Ms Bobbi going in & out of the classrooms taking measurements of all the students in the next couple weeks. We would like all measuring completed by Nov. 12. We then compare the measurements with the costume companies' size charts. We also have sizing samples from our main supplier to aid in selection. We try our best to order everyone the best size. You can check on the size we've selected at the end of November. Size exchanges made once the costumes arrive can take at least an additional 12-14 weeks. Once orders are placed in early D ecember, costumes are not returnable, so if you decide to change classes, you will still be responsible for the costume cost unless someone else joins the class and fits your costume. If a student drops out of class the same applies. If you are unsure, it may just be better to wait and pay the late fee. But keep in mind that late orders do run the risk of not arriving in time for class photos in the Spring.
We will post a Costume Preview on our website so you can also check which show your dance or dances will be in. We try to keep families in only one show if possible but with so many students and classes it cannot work out for everyone. Thanks for understanding!
