Class Observation Week

March 14-19

Parents are invited in to watch classes once again.
We hope you will enjoy seeing their progress.
Feel free to bring video or still cameras and photograph your child.

Please do not bring food or drinks into the classrooms. Also turn off cell phones or take calls in the hall. We love to have you in to observe but it is also important to keep noise and distractions to a minimum so the student's can still have class.

All classes are included for Observation Week EXCEPT Team & P/P ballet rehearsal times. Please observe those rehearsals from the hallway.

NO make-up classes may be done during observation week.

Recital 2011 -
Sunday, June 5th

Time is zipping by and our recital on Sunday, June 5th will be here in no time. Show times are 1:00, 4:00 and 7:00 pm. More details will be available in next month's newsletter. Dress Rehearsal is scheduled for Saturday, June 4th and is also in the Mason High School auditorium. The PrePro Ballet will have a Tech rehearsal on Friday evening, June 3rd at MHS.

Some of the costumes from our initial December order have already arrived. We have costumes going out in 24 classes this week. The costumes that have not come in yet should will trickle in between now and mid-April. We will pass them out in class as they arrive. Costumes ordered late or exchanged of course take longer to come in.

Check the 2011 Recital Costume Preview online for shoes needed. Tights are included in the bag with most costumes this year. You'll need to have the correct shoes and tights for group pictures in May. Most song titles are listed in the Recital Costume Preview. Recital hair style and any other details you'll need will all be added to the preview too.

Competition Update

Our Team Dancers all attended the Miami Valley Dance Teachers Association Workshop and Showcase held at the Dayton Convention Center on February 27. This coming weekend in all will compete at International Dance Challenge in Dayton. We also have competitions in April and May and are planning a Team Showcase locally in late May.

Good Attendance Very Important!

We can't stress enough the importance of good attendance every week. Classes have beenworking on their recital dances since January. Some are done or nearly there but some are having trouble because of poor class attendance. It is so difficultto choreograph without everyone present so please try your best to be in class each week. Progress can be hindered for the whole class by the poor attendance of a few. Our goal is to have all choreography completed by Spring Break. Then we have the classes after break to clean and polish everything for the show.

Snow & Ice Cancellations

Hopefully we are done with the heavy winter weather but if not here's another reminder of our snow policy. Cancellations will be posted on our voice mail & on our website. Please check before driving in during bad weather. We post cancellations by 9 am for morning classes, by noon for afternoon classes & by 4 pm for evening classes. If your area is in bad shape you can of course elect to come to a make-up class rather than venture out. If we must cancel in the middle of the evening, we will make phone calls to let you know as early as possible.

Cancelled classes will be made up in the Spring. Tentative makeup dates are listed below. Because we have had quite a few snow days the last couple seasons, this year we allowed extra make-up days when calculating our calendar for the season. If not needed these extra days will be days off. If the nicer weather holds it looks like the days April 20-23 will be days off. It was tough scheduling this year with Mason School's break so early and Lakota's the more traditional week of Easter.

Early Thoughts of Summer

We've started blocking out our schedule for summer classes and we should have it ready by late-March if not sooner. If you have any requests for classes you'd like to see on our summer schedule, please let us know and we'll see what we can do. This summer we plan to offer either 2 three week mini-sessions or 1 six week session in July and August. Look for more details next month.
