Reflection on Matthew 13:1-9 College is a time of immense growth. You are shaped by everything
around you: your friends, your classes, your experiences outside the
classroom, all of this makes you the person are and the person you will
be when you leave here. The key to all of it is that you are in charge.
One of my favorite quotes is from a man named Richard Rohr he wrote
something like "you cannot think your way into changing, you need to
put yourself in situations that will transform you." There are many
opportunities here at CSS that put you "in situations what will
transform you" so find them!
I think that is what this passage
is getting at. We are called to cultivate fertile ground within
ourselves so that when seeds are planted they will grow. College is
that time to do this.
Reflection question: What do you do to
"cultivate your soil"? How have you "put yourself in situations that
will transform you"?

A Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit.
Guide my days and deeds. Give me healing in my soul, love in my life, and strength for my task on earth.
When I am discouraged, grant me hope. When I am sad, show me the way ahead. And when I want to deviate from the way of Jesus, bring me back gently, surely, wholly.
On the last day, when my life is spent, may you be my last breath in this world and my first in the next. Amen.
