Finding the Deserted Place

Greetings!

Is your life a little too crazy lately?  Classes, studying, sports, friends, girlfriend/boyfriend, and not to mention groups, clubs or intermurals.  We do a great job of filling out time.  But how well do you do finding quiet?  This Sunday's Gospel Reading (Mark 1:29-39) Jesus gives us an example of how to handle the busyness of life. At the beginning of this passage we see a very busy Jesus; he heals a woman with a fever, "cured many that were sick" and "cast our many demons."  After that he finds a deserted place to be alone with God.  A time to rejuvenate and renew for the task at hand.

How often do you find a quiet place, a deserted place, a place of prayer?  This could mean taking ten minutes to pray in the morning, attend a Sunday service or come to our Imagine retreat (more info on this below).  Whatever it may be, follow Jesus' example and find your own deserted place.

Topic: What is Eco-Spirituality?
Can environmentalism and spirituality connect in our lives?

Presenter: Gary Boelhower (TRS Faculty)

The presentation will explore the foundation for a Christian eco-spirituality in the scriptures and the Christian spiritual traditions of discernment.  It will suggest some of the contemporary challenges both personally and systemically that arise out of an eco-spirituality.
