Support The School Garden Project And Have A OOzingly Good Time--The OOzequerade Is Friday, May 20, 5:30 pm at the McDonald Theatre
What a great opportunity to support one of Slow Food Eugene's favorite organizations--the School Garden Project--and celebrate with one of our most esteemed and honored garden pests. The OOzequerade is a gala fundraiser sponsored by "Raining" S.L.U.G. (Society for the Legitimization of the Ubiquitous Gastropod) Queen Slugasana.
The OOzequerade is an OOzingly extravagant evening of entertainment, fun, food, festivities, drink, art auction and education. "Come as you are, or as you aren't!" says Queen Slugasana. "Costumes are encouraged, and prizes will be awarded." All proceeds benefit the School Garden Project of Lane County.
The McDonald Theatre will be transformed into the Queen's Garden of Delights. The Garden Variety Art Show and pianist Rich Glauber will greet guests as they enter. A garden-themed art show-featuring the work of nearly 50 different area artists is presented in honor of Beth Kealy, a longtime supporter of the School Garden Project who passed in December 2010.
Entertainers scheduled include comediennes Leigh Anne Jasheway and Sarah Ulerick, music by the Radar Angels and Accordions Anonymous, with The Essentials-fabulous blues, soul, funk and dance music-closing the event. Performances start at 6:30 p.m.
Field to Table, a Eugene catering company that utilizes ingredients from local farms, purveyors and retailers, will provide appetizers inspired by local gardens.
Sponsors for the event include Organically Grown Company, Hummingbird Wholesale, Horton Road Organics, BRING Recycling, Crosby & Taylor and Pasta Plus.

Join Us For A Potluck Dinner Featuring Food From the Indian Subcontinent At The Camas Country Mill--One Of The Willamette Valley's Most Exciting New Agricultural Ventures--Thursday, June 2, 6:30-8:30pm
Here's another chance to get up close and personal with the local bean and grain movement! Last year we toured the Hunton Farm and saw their plantings of lentils, wheats, teff, and beans. Now we get to see the new mill facility that they recently completed.
Join Slow Food Eugene and Camas Country Mill for a fun evening celebrating this latest piece in our continuing efforts to support bean and grain production in the Willamette Valley. We will hear from the Huntons about the mill and their current bean and grain products, as well as the products that they hope to introduce in the near and far future. Naturally we will also celebrate this great addition to our local food system with a great meal, by way of the Indian sub-continent. Slow Food Eugene will provide the flatbreads (think the thinner types like rotis rather than naan) made out of garbanzo bean flour (garbanzos grown by the Huntons); You bring an Indian dish inspired by the bounty of our local area. Feel free to make locally influenced chutneys, raitas, dahls (did you know that there are locally grown lentils now available?), curries, parathas, gobis, just to name a few, there are so many possibilities! As always, please bring your own plates, flatware, cups, and a beverage. No alcohol please. Space is limited, so buy your tickets right away.
DATE: Thursday, June 2, 2011
TIME: 6:30-8:30pm PLACE: Camas Country Mill, 90785 Link Road, Eugene, OR 97402 (Click the link for a map locating the mill.) COST: $9 per person; children 12 and under free; tickets will be available this weekend at brownpapertickets.com.
