Social Action News:

Dear Friends,

It was wonderful to see how quickly our grocery bags disappeared from the lobby during the High Holidays, and we thank all of you who took empty bags and generously returned them filled to the YJC.  You can be assured that every item of food reached a needy family very quickly.

We will soon kick off our Thanksgiving food basket campaign and will be asking that you please consider opening your hearts once again. As you know from previous years, during Thanksgiving, Yorktown Head Start provides the area's neediest families with a food basket sufficient to feed a family of five.  Each one contains: A $20 or $25 gift certificate to a local supermarket for the turkey (please remember to obtain it from Stacy Mitgang), fresh or canned yams or potatoes, stuffing mix, cranberries, cake mix or cookies, apple juice or other beverage, rolls, canned greenbeans, canned mushroom soup, and French onion rings (the last three items to make a green bean casserole). Instead of a basket we ask you to provide a foil turkey baking pan as the container.  And you can easily wrap all the contents in a cellophane basket bag available for purchase from AC Moore.  Our SAC team will be collecting them in our lobby at a date to be announced closer to Thanksgiving.

We will again try to reach our goal of at least 30 bags!

Please remember that you can share this mitzvah with friends!

Many, many thanks for all of your support throughout the year!
