2012 FOOD DRIVE!

As we look towards the New Year, so many of our neighbors do not have enough food to feed their families. This year, we again join other synagogues throughout the country who are asking their members to share a little of the food that they have.

So, while we fast on Yom Kippur, why not donate that food to those in need?

We will provide a shopping bag (or 2) at services before Yom Kippur for each family to fill with groceries. Please pick up a bag from the YJC lobby at your earliest convenience. Fill the bag with as many extra non-perishable food items you have at home. Some examples of non-perishable foods include: soups, cans of tuna or other fish/meat, spaghetti/tomato sauces, cereals (hot and cold), canned vegetables including beans such as chickpeas and kidney beans, rice, canned fruit, juices/soda, etc.

Please return your filled bag to the YJC lobby anytime before or after Yom Kippur.

The food you donate will then be distributed to local food pantries to feed those in need.

Any questions, please contact:

Deb May Deborah.Jackson@WeiserMazars.com(917-848-3764) or

Phyllis Cohen cohen3ap@verizon.net (914-245-9004).

Many thanks for helping.
