YJC FOOD DRIVE 2011

There were 33 bags of food donations when I picked up this morning! What a wonderful response from your community! And, two gentlemen helped me load the bags into my van in another gesture of generosity from the members of YorktownJewish Center. Our heartfelt thanks from The Community Food Pantry at St. Mary's MoheganLake!

The "two gentleman" were Stewart Glass and either Neil Gross or Alan Alterbaum. Thank you, gentlemen, for helping Anne. Moreover, an additional 30 bags had already been delivered earlier to the other pantry at the Presbyterian Church, making a total of 63. Bravo, everyone!
BUT people have been asking if it's too late to participate. The answer is no. Last year we collected 90 bags and we were hoping to collect the same number or better. You can still take a bag, bring a bag, or use any old bag -- or just bring a few items if that's all you can manage. Our High Holiday food campaign has not yet ended and we will transport the bags to our two local pantries as quickly as they pile up in the lobby.

NEW CLASS!
We are happy to announce a new class beginning in November!
Rabbi Urbas will be teaching:
Pirkei Avot, Lessons From Our Elders: Jewish Ethical Lessons from the Past for Today.
The class will meet biweekly on
Mondays from 11am to noon, beginning on November 7.
Subsequent classes will be November 21, December 5 and
December 19, continuing into 2012.
