In these tough economic times, there may be members within YJC who struggle. If there is anyone within our congregation who might benefit from our Social Action efforts, we are here for you.
If you are in need of such help, please contact Rabbi Sternstein for possible (anonymous) aid from us. Since our first obligation is to those within our Yorktown Jewish Center "family," we will respond to this request before we extend a helping hand to our area neighbors.
Toys for Hope's Door Shelter - They have asked us to collect small, new, inexpensive summer toys such as chalk, Frisbees, pails and shovels, bubbles, etc. (many of these are available at dollar stores). Please deposit your contributions in the receptacle in the YJC coat room by Sunday, June 5th.
And please don't forget our ongoing lobby collection boxes which welcome your donations of canned soup, pasta sauce, vegetables and fruits, as well as jars of peanut butter and jelly and boxes of pasta, cereal, rice and cake mixes.
ANY ORGANIZATION IS ONLY AS GOOD AS ITS MEMBERSHIP STRENGTH!
Meetings: Would you like to be part of what we do? Our meetings are fun and we help so many people through or efforts. Please join us. We typically meet at 10 a.m. on the second Sunday of each month at the synagogue.
Other interests? Would you like to shop for the needy? Visit the elderly at nursery homes?
Jan Peek - As most know, members of the YJC provide dinner once a month at the Jan Peek shelter in Peekskill. We are appealing for your help in making part of a meal and in serving this food.
