Cantor Lemberger will be joining us for Shabbat services on June 3 and 4....please make plans to join us!!!

FROM SOCIAL ACTION:

In these tough economic times, there may be members within YJC who struggle. If there is anyone within our congregation who might benefit from our Social Action efforts, we are here for you.

If you are in need of such help, please contact Rabbi Sternstein for possible (anonymous) aid from us. Since our first obligation is to those within our Yorktown Jewish Center "family," we will respond to this request before we extend a helping hand to our area neighbors.

Toys for Hope's Door Shelter - They have asked us to collect small, new, inexpensive summer toys such as chalk, Frisbees, pails and shovels, bubbles, etc. (many of these are available at dollar stores). Please deposit your contributions in the receptacle in the YJC coat room by Sunday, June 5th.

And please don't forget our ongoing lobby collection boxes which welcome your donations of canned soup, pasta sauce, vegetables and fruits, as well as jars of peanut butter and jelly and boxes of pasta, cereal, rice and cake mixes.

ANY ORGANIZATION IS ONLY AS GOOD AS ITS MEMBERSHIP STRENGTH!

Meetings: Would you like to be part of what we do? Our meetings are fun and we help so many people through or efforts. Please join us. We typically meet at 10 a.m. on the second Sunday of each month at the synagogue.

Other interests? Would you like to shop for the needy? Visit the elderly at nursery homes?

Jan Peek - As most know, members of the YJC provide dinner once a month at the Jan Peek shelter in Peekskill. We are appealing for your help in making part of a meal and in serving this food. It is a great mitzvah but we can't do this on an ongoing basis without you. Please reach out to Phyllis Cohen (cohen3ap@verizon.net) or Deb May (djackson@weiserllp.com.)

The Annual Israel Day Parade will take place Sunday, June 5, 2011.

The theme: In Tune With Israel

The Weschester Cluster sub-theme:

Israel, A Symphony of Sites

YJC will march with the NOW Organization (Northern Westchester synagogues). Although the parade lasts from 11am to 4pm, our group will begin marching sometime later in the afternoon (exact time has not yet been determined). It begins at 59th St and lasts for 1 mile.

Transportation: we may be able to bus down to the city with our neighboring synagogues. If you wish to participate, or have further questions, please contact Irene Rubin- phone 528-4024 or at email-matzaru@verizon.net

Please let Irene know if you wish to attend the parade ASAP as we need to order tee shirts for the event. Cost per shirt $5.50. (include size). Thanks so much.

Dear Friends,

Last year we had a fantastic outing at Dutchess Stadium to see the Renegades. This year we are planning to go on Tuesday night, June 28th, BBQ starts at 5:30 and game starts 7:05. We will see the Renegades play the Staten Island Yankees. We will have a kosher BBQ picnic before the game. The cost of the BBQ with a game ticket will be $30 a person. Please make all checks payable to YJC Men's Club.

If interested please let me know so that I save a seat for you and your family and friends. Any profits help the Yorktown Jewish Center Men's Club. You can call or e-mail me for a reservation.
