"I find that when I come out of the library I'm in what I call the library bliss of being totally taken away from the distractions of life."

Dear ,

Great news at the Delaware Branch
We now have an after-hours book drop!
Also, we've had so many questions this week on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, here are some highlights:
First-Time Homebuyer Credit Expands. Homebuyers who purchase in 2009 can get a credit of up to $8,000 with no payback requirement.
Payroll Checks Increase This Spring. The Making Work Pay Tax Credit will mean $400 to $800 for many Americans. The IRS has issued new withholding tables for employers.
$250 for Social Security Recipients, Veterans and Railroad Retirees. The Economic Recovery Payment will be paid by the Social Security Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs and the Railroad Retirement Board.
Money Back for New Vehicle Purchases. Taxpayers who buy certain new vehicles in 2009 can deduct the state and local sales taxes they paid.
If you want more details, check out the IRS site here.
Cordially,
Elissa Kane on behalf of the Albany Public Library | |

June's Corner of the Library |

I have carried books with me for as long as I can remember. I don't just bring a book on a long car ride or to a doctor's appointment- I bring them almost everywhere. I've brought books to soccer practice, basketball games, sleepovers, and the mall. And I always bring books to school.
Books give me a sense of security. If I have a book with me, I will never be bored or lack something to do. Every situation can become an opportunity to learn if I have my book with me. When asked why I need to bring a book out to dinner or to the orthodontist I'll say just three words-just in case. When I go on vacation, even if only for a few days, I bring anywhere from three to seven books. I slip big hard-covers, thin paperbacks and all sizes in between into the cracks in my suitcase or back pack. If the vacation proves boring or it rains everyday at summer camp, I will still have a good time.
Each year when I go to music camp, I bring plenty of books. I can be seen lugging Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice, and other books across campus along with a heavy violin case and a bag of music.
Yes, it might be a little crazy to always have a book (and back up books) with me. But there have been times when I am stranded at a party with no book and a bunch of little kids watching the Cartoon Network so I carry a book with me- just in case.
