Summer-Fall August 2010
Greetings!

Welcome to our new subscribers and Twitter followers.  And Hello to all!

Summer and Fall are times we are enjoying more sunshine, life-giving rains, gardens, foliage changes and the comfortable outdoor temperatures.

This issue honors the physical body, your physical body.  In the article "What is Physical Wellness?" you will find a simple exercise that helps you take a small step towards improved physical health.  The root chakra is the energy center that governs your beautiful body.  In the "Health is an Inside Job Tip" you'll find a simple and effective way of shifting your root chakra into greater balance.

You'll find two real stories on how energy healing therapy helps.  One from a person suffering from migraines and another from a person suffering from panic attacks.

Finally, no matter what level of physical ability you have, physical wellness is possible.  Look to this month's inspirational video on Nick Vijicic.  An empowering teacher and role model, Nick exemplifies physical wellness.

The Summer season soon cycles into Fall.   The Autumnal Equinox is happening on September 22 at 1:27pm.  Remember this other important date, too:  September 21st.  It is World Gratitude Day.  With all that you are grateful for, remember with gratitude your physical body and the gift of life that courses through you.

Seasonal Energy
Summer cycles into Fall
Flow and grow with the seasons to enhance your energy

Summer is the time of ripening and growing in new outward and active ways.  The labor and sweat of your activities have given rise to creations.  What are they?  What fruit, new fruit, has grown in your life? Are they new insights, tangible items and/or improved relations?

As summer matures into late summer, it can be reflective of our own development. The energy of late summer ushers in a grounded, earthiness in which Life reaches a peak blossom.   And in this peakness a calm arises.  From this grounded place, you can feel a centeredness that emanates from a deeper, more solid place within.  Experience your centered earthiness as strong as the solidity of the earth under your feet.  That is the natural flow of this late summer season.

The earthy grounded loam of this time flows into the harvest of autumn.  The last of the ripened vegetables have reached their peak and are ready to be gathered in preparation for the cooler seasons to come.  Not only are gardens harvested and abundant with freshness, but the inner growth is gathered, too.

Our energies come together and unite in strength in a deep centering during late summer into autumn. At the same time, just like the leaves on New England trees, energies begin to move inward and withdraw from the outward causing that which is no longer needed to fall away - just like the colored foliage of a New England tree.  It's a letting go time.

You reap what you sow.  What have you yielded this late summer and fall?  Take in and digest the bounty.  What treasures do you gather and digest to nourish and prepare you for this next cycle?  What are you ready to let go of to help you cycle within?

Flow and grow.

Health is An Inside Job: Tip #11
Root Chakra by Bhairavi Andrea, SeeLaHSeeSYou!

The Root Chakra

Stability.Security. Presence. Vitality.Life Force. Groundedness.Tribal connections.Manifestation.

It's the chakra of surviving and self-preservation.  When you stand strongly in your root chakra you feel stable, grounded and very, very present in this moment.  Feel the physical presence of your body.  Enjoy the pleasures of your physical life force.  This is the chakra that houses your will to live.

A root chakra that is not balanced presents in a variety of ways.  Here are a few: you may feel unstable, trip over your feet, and/or don't feel you can stand-up for yourself.  You become overly materialistic or dependent on others.  You feel ungrounded and not rooted in one place.

Your chakra system is the storehouse for every thought and emotion you think and feel.  Your root chakra, also called the first chakra or muladhara is located at the base of your spine at your coccyx.  It has these characteristics:

Governs: physical support of body: hips, legs, feet

Major psychological function: Survival, safety, vitality, pleasure, pain

Color: Red

Sound: "Oh" as in "OM"

A Root Chakra Subtle energy exercise and visualization:

Because the root chakra is the chakra that governs our hips, legs and feet.  Any exercise that engages your hips and/or legs and/or feet will naturally energize this chakra and help you feel more grounded. Some common sense physical movements are:  kicking, stomping your feet, running, jogging and dancing.

Try this subtle energy visualization and exercise to strengthen your root chakra:

1.     Be open with your self.  Take a few deep abdominal breaths.

2.     Bring your awareness to the base of your spine, to the very tip at the coccyx.  Your root chakra is here. It's the place of being grounded and stable with your life's force.

3.     Visualize a red colored ball of light - an orb of red light spinning at the base of your spine.

4.     Breathe normally and visualize.   Focus and imagine, sense, feel and know the color red.

5.     Spin open your first chakra red in a clockwise direction.  Spin it now.

6.     Take some time, breathing and spinning your red root chakra open.

7.     Now pause and then stop visualizing and simply notice.  Witness and experience the energy.  What do you sense?

A Mini-Case StudyRelaxReducing Panic Attacks with Energy Healing Therapy

A client asked for help.  In addition to seeing a counselor, she sought out energy healing therapy to help her reduce and manage panic attacks.  She wanted to engage in her life with less fear and more trust.

It took more than a few sessions to help her.  Here's a highlight of one session:

She entered into this particular treatment with a panic attack coming on.

She was voice guided through an energy healing therapy exercise.  Specifically, guided imagery and Healing Touch.  Within 10 minutes she was calming down.  Within 20 minutes she was relaxing.  Within 35 minutes when the exercise was over her panic attack was too.  She felt present, in her body and the panic attack was a distant memory.

She is learning she can manage and have control over her stress response.  Today, she is still learning.  She is managing her attacks and feeling more engaged in her life.
