    ipac Thought Leaders Forum

Welcome to my first newsletter of 2006. I hope this year is already bringing you everything that you would hope for.

There is currently a good deal of discussion in the press and elsewhere about leadership in business and the changes that are happening (see "Who Wants to Be the Boss" below). I recently attended the ipac Thought Leaders Forum (see photo) where this was very much the topic of discussion and on the same theme I am excited to be both speaking and running a workshop at the "Next Wave of Leadership" conference in Singapore at the end of March. I am sharing the platform with some truly outstanding business leaders and I am very much looking forward to hearing them speak. I do hope those of you who are my South East Asia subscribers are able to come along (see side panel for details) - it's definitely an event not to be missed!

I must take this opportunity to publicly congratulate one of my Clients, Osan Limited. They have successfully held the highly prestigious Pringle brand licence for hosiery and underwear in the UK for the last eight years and have now been successful in obtaining the licence for the whole of continental Europe. This represents a massive challenge for them but one I know they will relish and will take in their stride.

Finally I must commend Chris Davidson to you and his speaking and voice workshop which I recently attended. Whether you are simply seeking to improve your speaking abilities - be that in-company or outside, whether you just want to be able to stand up and speak atall or are a seasoned professional speaker, Chris will train you and teach you to do things which I guarantee you did not think you were capable of ! (See side panel for Chris's details)

I hope you enjoy this newsletter and find it valuable.

    Roger Harrop
PS. Please let me know of any topics you would like us to discuss here in the future and I will try and oblige.

"Who wants to be the boss?"
    - the toughest job in business

There is a "special report" in this months Fortune magazine entitled "who wants to be the boss? - the toughest job in business" - and it is isn't it?

In the past there was at least some element of predictability in business - you wouldn't expect your largest customers to just disappear, you wouldn't expect basic technologies used in your business to change with a speed that takes your breath away - but you have to today. For heaven's sake we are even reading about the possibility of General Motors going bust!

Fortune says that "for all companies (including the biggest) finding profitable growth in a world of overcapacity is the big headache for business leaders. I agree with this but equally I am quite clear that for most of us profitable growth is there to be had,

    "Music Helps In Relieving Stress"

Listening to music does wonders to alleviate stress. Everyone has different tastes in music. We should listen to the music that makes us feel comfortable. Sitting down and forcing yourself to listen to relaxation music that you don't like may create stress, not alleviate it.

Music is a significant mood-changer and reliever of stress, working on many levels at once.

The entire human energetic system is extremely influenced by sounds, the physical body and chakra centers respond specifically to certain tones and frequencies.

    "You deserve higher prices 2"

In my last newsletter I wrote about what I learnt from Sir Owen Green at BTR and how I believe that you deserve higher prices. You will be interested in an e-mail I received just before New Year:

"Roger, Thanks for your last newsletter retelling the Owen Green story. I had forgotten it. It just so happened when I got it that my management team were preparing their 2006 business plans. Hence, I couldn't resist implementing it ?
