All of us here at FLEET FEET wish you a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy Holiday Season. We thank all of you for your generous support this season and throughout the year. We appreciate that you continue to allow us to serve you! As we have done each Christmas since we opened 8 years ago, (yes, time flies!) we'd, like to share with you what is called the most famous "letter to the editor" in American history! My Dad came across a reprint many moons ago, and he read it to our daughter Jackie, who's now 20, when she asked "Papa" the same question Virginia asked "the editor." Dear Editor: I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says, "If you see it in 'The Sun,' it's so." Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus? - Virginia O'Hanlon Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be mens or children's are little. In this great universe of ours, man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole truth and knowledge. Yes Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give your life the highest beauty and joy. Alas! How dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginia's. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished. Not believe in Santa Claus? You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your Papa to hire men to watch all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world. You tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart that curtain and view and picture the supernatural beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else less real and abiding. No Santa Claus?! Thank God he lives and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay 10 times 10,000 years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood. Merry Christmas!

Please also make note that beginning December 27th, our winter hours will begin! Our hours will be Monday-Friday, 10:00AM - 7:00PM, and Saturdays 10:00AM-5:00PM! We will resume our regular hours in March!
2010 is winding down and it's time to begin thinking about your 2011 fitness goals. Why not run a half marathon this spring? Based on strong popular demand, from you, our customers, as well as from folks who are alumni of our No Boundaries and Running 101 programs, we are offering a half marathon training program in 2011! We've teamed up with Saucony for this program, and the NJ Shore Half Marathon, on May 1, 2011 will be our targeted race. Our program will hold it's first training run on Saturday January 29, 2011. Run's will be held on each successive Saturday at 7:45 AM until April 23, 2011 Fleet Feet training programs are a great way to set and accomplish your fitness goals, meet new friends, and have FUN! There will be an info night on January 26th at 6:30PM at Fleet Feet. Why not bring a friend to join you? Plan on joining us in 2011!
