Auditing Roundtable returns to D.C. |
The Auditing Roundtable is returning to the
Nation's Capitol in September, holding its Annual
Meeting in Crystal City on September 3-5, 2008.
To take advantage of being in the Washington, D.C.
area, the Roundtable will draw speakers from various
regulatory agencies to get the "Government
Perspective" on the plenary session topics. Agency
speakers have been invited to complement members
from consulting and industry on topics such as:
- Process Safety Management
- Nanotechnology
- Greenhouse Gases
- Security Auditing
This meeting will also contain a little extra - - more
training opportunities than have ever been offered!
After the rousing success of the
Roundtable's "Auditing Basics" training course held in
Phoenix, the organization is expanding its training
options to three concurrent training sessions:
1. Auditing Basics (Wednesday-Thursday,
September 3 -4);
2. Environmental Compliance (Tuesday afternoon-
Thursday, September 2 - 4); and
3. Health and Safety Compliance (Tuesday
afternoon-Thursday, September 2 - 4).
For those already certified and seeking other
training/CPD opportunities, the Roundtable will also
hold a CEU course that will focus on using
Greenhouse Gas protocols.
There are still plenty of sponsorship opportunities
available, and a few Exhibitor slots left. If you are
interested in either, please contact Kathy at
kathy@auditing-roundtable.org.

ASSE Suggests Changes to Proposed Confined Space Standard |
ASSE submitted comments on OSHA's proposed
rule, Confined Spaces in Construction. The
comments are based on the views of members of
ASSE's practice specialties and members of the ANSI
Z117 Accredited Standards Committee, for which
ASSE is the Secretariat.
As stated in the
comments,
ASSE's overall view is that the proposed rule "is
unduly complicated, introduces unnecessarily new
terminology and requirements that are complicated
and burdensome, and fails to recognize current safety
practices that are widely understood and have proven
successful in practice both in general industry and in
construction."
