Greetings!
As the social consciousness movement grows
across the globe, the term "green thinking" is
becoming a more familiar phrase - both in the
workplace and at home. But for an entire decade the
Board of Environmental, Health and Safety Auditor
Certifications (BEAC) has been working to ensure that
organizations and government are staffed with
professional auditors who ensure we live in a healthy
and safe world.
The Board of Environmental, Health & Safety Auditor
Certifications (BEAC) is an independent non-profit
corporation, created in 1997 as a joint venture
between The Auditing Roundtable and The Institute of
Internal Auditors to issue professional
auditor certifications relating to environmental, health
& safety, security, sustainability, social responsibility
(EHS), and other scientific fields.
BEAC applicants must meet a variety of qualification
criteria. Once approved, they are awarded the
professional designation of Certified Professional
Environmental Auditor (CPEA).
The BEAC certification is accredited by the Council of
Engineering & Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB).

Environmental Auditors Celebrate a Decade of
Achievement! More focus on sustainability
brings
success to certification program.
"The growing demand for corporate social
responsibility and sustainable development, along
with new rules and regulations for environmental and
safety compliance, has led to an increase in the
importance of Environmental Health & Safety
auditors," says Auditing Roundtable President Gary
Williams, CPEA.
BEAC's Chairman, Lincoln Romain, CPEA
added, "The true mark of a professional is someone
who has in-depth knowledge of the standards that
guide the profession and a practical understanding of
how to best apply these standards in their everyday
practice. This clearly sets those auditors that hold a
CPEA apart from the rest."

The 17th Annual Clean Gulf conference will
be held at
the Tampa Convention Center, Tampa Florida,

BEAC participates in Trilateral Task Force |
Recently, The Institute of Internal Auditors, The
Auditing Roundtable, and BEAC established a
trilateral task force to enhance the strengths of all
three
organizations and become one voice for EHS
auditors.
Organizations are increasingly
including EHS factors in their enterprise risk
management reviews, and have expanded the
Sarbanes-Oxley requirements to include
EHS measurements. This means that
financial and operational auditors will need to
understand EHS issues - and EHS auditors need to
understand Sarbanes-Oxley.
The task force
will
focus on four key areas: Infrastructure, Marketing,
Membership, and Training & Education.
