Sedona Library Book Sale Attention bargain hunters and book lovers! The annual Fall Book Sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Sedona Library, is right around the corner.

  • Preview Night: Friday, October 19, 5:30 - 8 p.m.  For Friends of the Library, invited guests, staff, and volunteers.
  • Book Sale Dates: October 20 - 28, during regular Library hours, plus Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.

For less than the price of a single hardcover book, you can join the Friends of the Library. To print out a membership form, click here or pick up an application at the Library.

New Book-Return Slot at Check-In
Circulation Desk In response to patrons' concern about items not yet checked in being piled up at the check-in desk, we have unveiled a book-return slot. If you are in a hurry and require expedited check-in of items with a checkout quantity limit (DVDs, CD audiobooks, etc.), simply ask the volunteer at that station for assistance. This change also prepares us for our upcoming transition to RFID, a faster and more accurate method of checking in and out items.
Displays at the Library
As part of their annual show, the Verde Valley Weavers and Spinners Guild is displaying a wide variety of fiber arts at the Library through October 12. A demonstration of spinning will take place on Monday, October 8, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Sedona Camera Club's "Photographic Images, 2012" will be on display for the entire month of October. Club members' photographs cover a variety of subjects, including local landscapes and wildlife, as well as interesting portraits.

Activities for Tweens and Teens

Sedona Library is starting a Tween Book Club! Ages 9 through 12 are invited to the book club kick-off, which will be on Saturday, October 20, from 1 to 2 p.m. Book clubs can be a fun and interesting way to turn children on to the wonderful world of books. The Club plans to have six Saturday meetings from October 20 to May 2013.

Teens, be sure to check out the new teen corner of the Library. We are looking forward to your comments, ideas, and title suggestions at the next TAG (Teen Advisory Group) meeting, which is scheduled for November 1, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Call the Library, 928-282-7714 ext. 19, for more information.

Join the community book discussion on Wednesday, October 24. The program begins at 1:30 p.m. at Sedona Winds, 405 Jacks Canyon Road. Cheryl Yeatts, Manager of SPL-V, will facilitate the discussion of "An Unfinished Life," by Mark Spragg. You may pick up your loaner copy and discussion questions at SPL-V. This program is free and open to the public. For more information, please call the library at 928-284-1603.
Festival of Wreaths
If you haven't already put it on your calendar, mark the date of Sunday, November 11, for the Preview Gala and Sale for the Friends of the Library's Festival of Wreaths. This is the event that kicks off the local holiday season with fabulous refreshments, music, sale of wreaths and other handmade original creations, and a raffle of amazing items, starting at 5 p.m.

If you're planning to create a wreath, tabletop tree, Christmas stocking or runner, or an apron for any occasion, it's time to put your imagination to work! All artistic donations are due on Friday, November 9.
