Hi Everyone,
Olymoics 2012
I hope all of you are having a great summer. The weather has been a very balmy 70-75 degrees here. We feel very lucky compared to what has been going on in most of the U.S.

Also, congrats to all of our friends in the UK for a great Olympics and to all of the dedicated and hard working athletes. Once again the old adage of patience and persistence pays off. So important in life and the music library world!

Joke Corner
A musician calls the symphony office to talk to the conductor.
"I'm sorry, he's dead," comes the reply.
The musician calls back 25 times, always getting the same reply from the receptionist.
At last she asks him why he keeps calling.
"I just like to hear you say it."

Robin's Yoga Poses For The Stressed-Out Composer

THERAPEUTIC BABY COBRAS ("Press-Ups")

Cobras are one of the most basic yoga poses. They are great for undoing so much of the damage we do to our backs while seated at our work stations, so involved in our music that we sit there for hours on end - slumping over and rounding our backs.

Robin - Baby Cobra

Here's how they're done: Lying face down, extend your leg
s straight behind you. Place your hands on the floor as if you were going to do a push-up. Think of dragging your heart forward while pressing yourself up, and allow your neck to be long. Allow your belly to be soft and also - very importantly - allow your buns to be soft. Use only your arms to press yourself up. Allow your back muscles to be passive. You may only be able to do "baby cobras" at first, especially if you're already in pain. That's fine. Over time you may be able to lift yourself higher. Try 15-20 reps at a time, as many sets as five or
six a day if you're in pain.

Robin's Good Eatin'
FRUITY SUMMER SALAD

Here's an idea for a cooling, slightly sweet salad you can whip up in a hurry. It can be used as a side dish or of course, a light entrée along with some artisan bread or crackers. The recipe below is for 4 side salads or 2 entrée salads.

*One bag salad greens (I like to use mixed baby lettuces, or maybe you would like to use half lettuce and half spinach.)
*1 small can mandarin orange slices or fresh mandarins or tangerines (about a half a fresh tangerine per serving)
*A quarter cup fresh ripe strawberries and/or whole fresh raspberries (washed and dried.)
*A sprinkling of dried cranberries or dried cherries
*A sprinkling of nuts (chopped toasted walnuts, sliced almonds, or candied pecans - or a mixture of them.)
*A sprinkling of crumbled goat cheese (You may prefer blue cheese or feta.)

Serve with raspberry vinaigrette or perhaps, if you're using the canned mandarins, a mixture of reserved juice of mandarins vigorously whipped with light veggie mayonnaise until smooth. Or maybe just a light sprinkling of mild balsamic vinegar or rice vinegar.

Experiment and make it your own - Yummmmm!
Well that's it for now. Remember: Patience and Persistence. In the music library business as well as in life!
