New Library Additions
Hi Folks,

I hope you are all having a happy holiday season. Robin and I have the tree trimmed, the menorah is placed predominantly in our home and the presents assembled. Robin was not brought up with a Christmas tree but she does enjoy decorating it and blasting the Beach Boys Christmas album every year! My knee is about 90% healed and we are in good health. MLR is doing well and music is going out the door. Life is good and we wish the same for you and yours!

You'll find this newsletter (and others to follow) a bit more "folksy". Hey, it's just who I am and a bit more like the newsletter I put out for my studio back in the day.
Building Your Own Music Library Website
I've been busily building my own music library site. I know, I know, just what the world needs, another music library website! It's really more of an exercise to clean up and organize my music and metadata. I also wanted to see how inexpensively I could achieve this. If something sells, great, but I'm not expecting much in that department. When I'm finished I will write up a tutorial for others who are on a budget and might want to do the same.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
A Russian couple was walking down the street in St. Petersburg the other night, when the man felt a drop hit his nose. "I think it's raiRudolphning," he said to his wife.

"No, that felt more like snow to me," she replied. "No, I'm sure it was just rain, he said." Well, as these things go, they were about to have a major argument about whether it was raining or snowing. Just then they saw a minor communist party official walking toward them. "Let's not fight about it," the man said, "let's ask Comrade Rudolph whether it's officially raining or snowing."

As the official approached, the man said, "Tell us, Comrade Rudolph, is it officially raining or snowing?"

"It's raining, of course," he answered and walked on. But the woman insisted: "I know that felt like snow!" To which the man quietly replied: "Rudolph the Red knows rain, dear!"

Sorry, couldn't help that one!
General Questions
The "General Questions" thread always has some interesting conversations going on. Most recently they included questions on "Promo" payments by the PROs, alternate mixes, beds, stems, what to do about those "gaps" of silence in a mix and much more. Read More

Yoga Poses For The Stressed-Out Composer

Robin Munson Legs Up The Wall
Robin is also a Yoga teacher so I thought it might be nice to have her recommend poses when we are unduly stressed.

Legs Up The Wall

If your sleep has been disrupted by anxiety, tension, incessant worry or regret, there are poses out there in Yoga Land that can help. Here's one of my favorites:

Find a blank wall. Sit with one hip as close to the wall as possible so that you are sideways to the wall. Lie back with your knees bent, and then swing your legs up the wall in a circular motion, legs straight or slightly bent. Allow your arms to rest comfortably either in a "T" shape or in a "goalpost" shape at your sides, palms facing up. Close your eyes. Take a couple of deep breaths and sigh them out. Say, "Ahhhhhhhhhh!" (At least two minutes, more if it feels good).

(If you don't have a clear wall space, you can do this pose using a sturdy and firmly closed door, or as "Legs Up The Couch" or even swing your legs over the edge of a low table. )

Vegan Pumpkin Coconut Soup

Vegan Pumpkin Coconut SoupOne of our favorites!

Ingredients:

  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 tbsp vegan margarine (you may prefer butter)
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 14 ounce can coconut milk
  • 1 15 ounce can pumpkin
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp curry powder (maybe a tad more, to taste)
  • ½ tsp ginger
  • dash salt
Preparation:

In a large pot, sautée the onions in Earth Balance (vegan buttery spread) for 3-5 minutes until onions turn soft.

Add remaining ingredients and stir to combine.

Allow to simmer over low heat for at least fifteen minutes, stirring occasionally.

Freakin' good!
Well that's it for now. Robin and I wish you and yours a Joyous Holiday Season!
