Forgeline's New SC3C-SL Concave Stepped Lip Wheel Forgeline is proud and excited to release the latest concave wheel within our Concave Series: the 3-piece stepped-lip SC3C-SL.

While most Forgeline Concave Series wheels are designed with a flat reverse lip, the SC3C-SL Concave Stepped Lip wheel uses a standard stepped lip rim to deliver even more visual interest and weight savings!  This wheel was designed for today's modern sports cars and is a great choice for BMW 3-Series/5-Series, Ferraris, Nissan GT-Rs, and Porsche 996/997 Wide Bodies.  (Other fitments are currently in development.)

The Forgeline SC3C-SL forged concave stepped lip wheel combines a deep-dish concave profile, a split five-spoke pattern (with full-length spokes that extend all the way through the center's mounting flange), and a weight-saving stepped lip rim shell. And thanks to Forgeline's unique performance-inspired concave design philosophy and beveled spokes, the SC3C-SL delivers both beauty and performance.

Forgeline custom-builds the concave stepped lip SC3C-SL in 20-inch diameters and a range of widths to fit select applications. And just like any Forgeline wheel, they are fully customizable in fitment and finish. Please learn more about the new Forgeline Concave Series stepped lip SC3C-SL wheel, including sizes and pricing, in our online store at http://www.forgeline.com/products/concave-series/sc3c-sl-concave-step.html

Street Rods Love Forgeline Wheels

Merle Eschman's 1933 Ford Hot Rod dares to be different and with great results! Merle's Factory Five '33 Hot Rod stands apart from the crowd with Forgeline ZX3P wheels (18 inch front and 20 inch rear) and Center Lock Conversion Kit. These center locking ZX3Ps feature our Gloss Black Powder Coat and Diamond Cut option with exposed hardware. Forgeline has long been the wheel of choice for serious racecars, European sports cars, and pro-touring muscle cars.  But now we're pretty excited that a new audience of hot rod and street rod enthusiasts has discovered Forgeline's quality, performance, legendary customer service, and customized made-to-order flexibility too.

We love the unique craftsmanship that is exhibited in most hot rod and street rod creations.  Today's rods also harness serious performance capability with modern drivetrain and chassis adaptations.  And though so many street rods have traditionally rolled on look-alike polished billet wheels, a few creative trendsetters are now breaking the mold and taking advantage of Forgeline's custom made-to-order flexibility to fit their hot rods with wheels that truly represent their machines' uniqueness and individuality.

As more and more hot rods and street rods discover Forgeline wheels, we look forward to seeing the awesome combinations that these customers are sure to dream up.  But one thing is for sure: The wheels that we build for these vehicles are certain to be as unique as the hot rods and street rods on which they'll be installed!

Concave Lip Depth: A Closer Look

Forgeline DE3C Concave Wheel Since launching in 2011, Forgeline's Concave Series wheels have become incredibly popular.  And we continue to expand our Concave Series with new styles and offerings.  But one point of confusion that we hear frequently is the desire to combine deep reverse rim lips with concave centers - which, depending on wheel width and offset, may not be entirely possible.

At first glance, you may not understand why this is.  But as you can see from the image below, the concave center spokes literally occupy the space that otherwise belongs to the outer rim.  So holding overall width and backspacing constant, a wheel with a concave center will always have less available outer rim depth than a rim with a non-concave center.

Cross Section View: Non-Concave Wheel on the Left, Concave Wheel on the Right

Obviously, this may not be an issue for vehicles that can accommodate really small backspacing and really wide widths.  But for most vehicles, there will be some tradeoff between the concave profile and the outer rim lip depth.
