10 Low-Cost Tips to Make ASLM2012 Affordable
- Housing - ASLM2012 has secured great rates at some of the best hotels in Cape Town! Register for lodging to get the best deals. And for the truly budget-conscious, we have some "backpacker" options for as low as US$15 per night. Book these rooms early, as availability is limited. - Registration - Early-Bird Registration will save you $100 off the regular registration cost. Or better yet, get FREE registration when you volunteer to work 2 half-day shifts at the conference! Volunteering helps support ASLM, and can be a fun way to get a "behind-the-scenes" view of the conference.
- Are You a Student? A limited number of student travel scholarships will be awarded based on submission of outstanding abstracts.
- Bring a Buddy - Traveling with friends can help you save money and make your conference experience more memorable. Bring a buddy and share hotel rooms, taxis... even meals!
- Local Cuisine - Dinner in fancy Cape Town restaurants can be pricey. But you can enjoy the local cuisine for just a few dollars a day. Plus many hotels provide free breakfast with your room!

- Getting Around - Cape Town offers MyCiTi Bus Service between the airport and central Cape Town for about US$6 per person, running every 20 minutes from 4:20-21:00 daily. Conference hotels are within walking distance to the convention center, and many offer complimentary shuttles to the famed Waterfront district, featuring numerous dining and shopping options.
