1. A blue service hours sheet was given out. If your child does not have one, please tell them to stop by my office to pick one up. I have seen all but 4 students who were not at the meeting this morning so everyone else should have one. These are due on November 5. Your child was told to put down ALL service hours worked not just the required 10. We use these forms to help identify students for possible awards from other organizations or businesses.
2. Fundraisers: We will begin selling our Chic-Fil-A calendars at Open House on Monday evening. We have 150. Your child may pick up one or more to sell after Monday evening. We have asked that all students try to sell at least one. The cost of the calendar is $6.00.
We will also begin selling Belk Charity Day tickets for $5.00. Tickets will be given out at the next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 16. We keep all of the money ($5.00 per ticket). Charity Day is November 3 and you will receive $5.00 off your purchase. More details to follow in October.
3. Students signed up for the Beta Club Convention. We were surprised by the number of students who said that they would be attending! We will be meeting with students in the next few days to go over the requirements for their category. Several categories had more than one participant so we will have an "audition" or "in-school" competition to determine who will represent Hughes. Students may have signed up for more than one event and we will work out all the details with your child over the next couple of months.
4. Don't forget to send in your deposit of $50.00 for the convention by next Friday, September 28.
5. Attached is the calendar for the rest of the year (SUBJECT TO CHANGE). We put meetings on the calendar each month and if we decide that we do not need to meet or we have workshops or meetings to attend, I will let you know as soon as we do. Otherwise, please plan for your child to be at the meetings on the date scheduled. If an emergency arises and your child cannot attend, please have him/her see either Mrs. Armistead, Dr. Knight, or Ms. Armstrong.
