Hands on Greenville Day at Hughes

Volunteers from Grace Church and Ford Motor Credit joined students, parents and staff in the Hands on Greenville activities at Hughes Academy last Saturday. In addition to sprucing up the grounds, volunteers helped to enlarge the nature trail and clear the old grist mill adjacent to the school. The grist mill is dated to 1839 and is on the grounds of Vardry McBee's country home.

Gold Oak Leaf Association

Hughes Academy PTSA has been recognized by the South Carolina PTA as a member of the Gold Oak Leaf Association!  The Gold Oak Leaf Association means the PTSA has met certain Membership goals set by the State PTA. This designation was made possible because of the many efforts of our awesome parent volunteers. Congratulations!

Meet The Candidates

Meet the Candidates!

South Carolina will hold a primary election on June 12th.   It is very important that all parents and teachers who are concerned about public education are informed about the different candidate's position and vote on this election.

To help individuals in the community learn about the candidates and their position on education, SICs and PTAs across District 8 have arranged a  Forum with the District 8 Senate Candidates.  Jim Lee, Ross Turner, Jeff Dishner,  Joe Swann, David Thomas and Chad Groove will participate in this event. This is an opportunity for the candidates to share their position on education and community members to ask questions that relate to education and issues impacting families.  There will be a professional moderate present to facilitate.

The forum will be held on Monday May 14th from 6-7:30 pm at Mauldin Middle School.
