gratitude journal.  Have your child write or tell you what she is grateful for and keep it in a journal.  This will help cultivate values and gratitude. When she gets upset over what she

wants or does not have, you can pull out the journal and remind her of all the goodness she does have.

Hooray for Summer!  The official season of inspiration and personal growth is here.  So take advantage of summer's abundance and try something new.  It might just change your life forever.

Your Dreams, Don't Wait For Them To Come To You.   
Summer is the season of potential and abundance. Reaching your dreams this summer may be as easy as stepping out of your routine.


Summer is in full swing and yes, the living is easy!  It is no coincidence that everything seems so promising in the summertime. 


Summer is the season of abundance.  So this season, whether you are vacationing or working for the weekends, take a moment to breathe in the brimming potential of the summer air.  


Look around.  The plants are in full bloom and the sunshine seems to make just about everything a little bit better.  The longer days allow you to get around to the important things in life, like spending time with friends and family or making a little time for yourself


But where do your dreams fit in?


Do you find that you tell yourself that you will start working on your dreams tomorrow only to repeat the same mantra the next day?   I am here to tell you that the time is now.  Seize your moment and make what were once dreams a reality for you and your family.  So go ahead jump in. Step out of your routine and try something new. Harness the enormous potential of summer and ride the wave of adventure all the way to success.  Reaching your dreams may be as easy as stepping out from the norm.


Throughout the year we live at an intense pace (physical, emotional and mental), and we often get stuck in routine, either for the sake of efficiency or out of fear of unfamiliar territory.  The lack of variety in doing the same things over and over tends to stagnate not only our minds, but also our bodies and hearts.  Are you hesitant to break your routine?  Fear and excitement have the same physiological expression in our bodies; it is our mind that classifies the feeling as either positive or negative.  So the next time you consider a change in routine and your mind says "scary!" see if you can re-frame it as "exciting!"

Try Paddleboarding


What is something you have never done before or that you have wanted to do for a long time?  Choose your own adventure: organize a kayak trip, take a dance class, do some exotic traveling or set a goal for a new personal challenge.  Or try something simple yet equally invigorating, like playing flashlight tag with your kids and or reading in the sunshine.  Maybe it's time to discover a new vegetable dish or visit a new town, restaurant or beach.


Whatever adventure calls to you, use this summer to make it happen and LOVE your life!  Increasing new experiences and excitement in your life can decrease your dependence on artificial stimulants like caffeine and sugar, leading to more vibrant health.  Watch out for massive improvements in physical well-being, mental acuity and motivation, plus a full portfolio of fun.

Good Clean Food Focus: Living a RAWLICIOUS LIFE!

Eating Raw can lead to a healthy and more vibrant life.

I can think of no better time to discuss raw foods than summertime.  Now I am not insisting that you up and throw out your ovens.  But, I am going to tell you a little bit about why you may want to get a little bit RAW about your food. 

I ask you this... Are people healthier now than say, fifty years ago?  Do you not know someone close to you that has an incurable disease?  The link between our health and what we eat is irrefutable.  Covering up symptoms is not healing and it is not Good Clean Health.  We need to reach a deeper level of healing.  When we truly nourish the body, the body heals itself and stays healed.  Health is our natural state of being. To regain it we must undo the decades of emotional and mental junk-food programming.  It is time to take back our power by accepting that we are responsible for the health of our bodies.

Disease is not a death sentence; it is our bodies giving us a warning, a wake up call.  A healthy lifestyle is simply removing the poisons and replacing them with the highest quality nutrition nature has to offer.  Once you do this you will experience the abundant energy, vitality, clarity, strength and vigor that a natural diet can provide. 


Raw food is plant-based food that is not heated beyond 116.6 F. Why 166.6F?  It is because above this temperature enzymes and nutrients in the food begin to be destroyed.  This does not mean that all raw food is cold.  You can enjoy warm foods like soup and teas but you will be benefiting from all the nutrition at a deep cellular level by warming the food not "cooking" it.  Raw foods can be very cooling and refreshing and exactly what our bodies crave in the summer months.  And not coincidently, nature provides us a bounty of in-season produce that makes eating RAW a cinch in the summer.


Most food is cooked at well over 320F at these temps up to 80% of the nutritional value of food is lost.  Cooked food requires far more energy to digest and increases the acidity of the body.  If our bodies are acidic we invite disease, on the other hand if our bodies are alkaline disease cannot take hold.  POWERFUL STUFF!


So what are some of the benefits of eating raw foods?

  • Increases mental clarity
  • Stabilizes emotions
  • Anxiousness and uncertainty is replaced with calm, centered confidence
  • Increased quality of skin, nails and hair
  • Recovery time from exercise greatly improves as well as stamina and strength
  • Body naturally sheds excess weight
  • Need for less sleep
  • Hunger and cravings become a thing of the past because your body is truly satiated


How to get in the RAW


I do not recommend going raw overnight.  Not only will you shock your body into detox overdrive but you will also find it challenging to overcome the emotional attachment to certain foods.  The focus should be on adding in not eliminating food.  So, if you eat eggs and bacon for breakfast, have a green smoothie before your usual breakfast.  If you snack on candy bars, eat a handful of superfoods trail mix first.  Add a salad to either lunch or dinner.  Keep it simple. 


Summer is a good time to explore eating more raw foods.  There are so many wonderful fruits and veggies that are in season.  The key to success is planning and support.  Tell your family that you want to increase the amount of raw foods you are eating and tell them why you are excited to explore this lifestyle.  Plan out several meals and snacks that everyone will enjoy.  Start off your day with a green juice and or smoothie, have a big salad for lunch and snack on superfood trail mixes and fruit.  Suddenly you are eating 70% raw and feeling fabulous.  You will notice a surge of energy that will allow you to take full advantage of the long fun-filled summer days. 


Good Clean Recipe of the Month


Bok Choy Apple Slaw

Bok Choy & Apple Slaw

Prep time: 7 minutes
Yield: 4 servings



  • 6 stalks bok choy (about 1/2 head), thinly sliced
  • 1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 granny smith apple, sliced
  • 1/2 cup toasted sunflower seeds



  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1-teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons honey or brown rice syrup
  • Salt and black pepper to taste



  1. First make the dressing by combining all the ingredients and whisking well.
  2. Chop all the salad ingredients, leaving the apples until last. Mix in a salad bowl. 
  3. Toss salad with half the dressing. Add additional dressing if desired.
  4. Eat immediately, or chill for up to one hour and then add the apples just before eating.
