Technology 4 Hotels Update

Technology 4 Hotels Banner
Greetings!

Welcome to our Technology 4 Hotels Update, we hop you had an Eggcellent Easter - maybe the Easter Bunny left you or your guests a gift, maybe an iPod/iPhone or iPad.

By their nature, iDevices are very personal and people take them every where including to hotels they stay in.  Any one who has an iDevice loves it and knows how fast they chew through battery life.

Docking stations incorporated into the Clock Radio are an elegant and much appreciated addition to any room.  Guests can charge their iDevice and listen to their own music - be it during the day or night or in the morning to wake up to.

Not all Docking stations are the same, below are our top 4 features to look out for.

Warmest Regards,

What others say?

"The new iPod/iPhone clock radios meet our guest expectations and we love the very positive feedback from our guests. In addition, we no longer need to stock spare iPod/iPhone chargers at the concierge desk and the concierge team are saving over 20 hours a week."

 The Brisbane Hotel

"Brendon was very easy to deal with, and also willing and able to quickly send down demo units this put my mind at ease. With the iPod/iPhone clocks our hotels have been able to keep up with the trends/demands from their guests."

Are All Docking solutions the same?

No, a hotel environment is unique and a docking solution that may be great at home may not be suitable in a hotel environment.

Here are the top four Features we believe you should look out for..............

1.  Will it work for ALL dockable iPods/iPhones and iPads?

I have lost count of how many types of iPods there are, make sure the docking is universal and guarantees to fit ALL dockable iPods/iPhones and iPads.  A line-in jack is handy for non-dockable iPods, MP3 Players and Smart Phones.

Charging dockable devices should be achieved WITHOUT the need for slot in 'spacers'.  If there are removable bits 'n' pieces, these will get lost rendering the docking ineffective for your guests.  In fact it will detract from their stay as opposed to enhance it.

2.  Will it charge the iPod/iPhone/iPad?

They have improved but, many of the early iPod/iPhone docking units could not charge the iPhone.  More of a problem, some units put the iPhone into 'Plane mode' ie you could play music but calls would not be received.  It is less of an issue today, however, do check that charging and full phone functionality will be maintained.

3.  Does it charge iPads?

Many docking stations charge iPods and iPhones but only a few charge iPadsApple® sold over 3 million of the new iPad in less than four days - "The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold - the strongest iPad launch yet," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.  There are tens of  millions of iPads out there so, yes, we believe you should provide iPad docking.

4.  Does it have Hotel Features?

Hotel features include things like, a single day alarm, so one guest's 4am wake up will not affect the next guest in the room. I don't know about you, but I have forgotten to check more than once!

Other hotel features include locking the unit so guests cannot change the time or pre-set radio stations. Also capping the maximum volume to an acceptable level so as not to disturb the guest next door.  These are highly appealing so a security lanyard or some other way to physically secure the iPod/iPhone/iPad Docking Clock Radio is a great idea.

 iD37 Soft Edges

The iHome iD37

Many similar features with a smaller footprint - ideal for small bed side tables.

Despite the small size, the sound is very impressive!

In addition, it has a USB charging port which is very handy and reduces the need for power outlets and can obviously accommodate USB devices from any country.

Why should my guests have all the good stuff?

We know these are great and the hotel features can be 'turned off' at the flick of a switch for use at home.

If you want one for yourself, you are not alone, a lot of hotel staff want them.  If you want to order extra ones for yourself and colleagues at the time you place an order for your property for 8 or more units, we will provide additional units for personal use at wholesale prices and waive delivery charges.  Separate invoices are not a problem - you can probably guess, we have already done this quite a few times!
