Human Trafficking Is Second Fastest Growing Crime in the World
Trafficking is a lucrative industry. It is now the second fastest growing criminal industry in the world after the drug trade. It usually affects women and children. As a global institution, the Catholic Church has denounced trafficking as an offense against human dignity and fundamental human rights. The reality of thousands of our brothers and sisters laboring in modern day slavery compels us to act to stop human trafficking and serve the survivors of this crime.
The United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB) along with many other Catholic organizations urges Catholics to work together to identify survivors of human trafficking and to help rescue them from bondage.
