(Geographic) Center of the City Project
Call for Designs!
The Public Art Urban Enhancement Program is seeking designs to commemorate the geographic center of the city, one at the time of statehood (1912) and another for the centennial (2012). These designs will be cast onto the manhole covers and should relate to themes of geography, history, time and culture. The video documents the history of the Public Art Program from its inception in 1978 to the present and utilizes interviews with past and present staff and artists as well as lots of historical footage. Come to the Dedication of the Newest Phase of the Convention Center Mosaic

The newest phase of the Convention Center mosaic project is underway and will be finished early next month. This portion of the mosaic uses peacock imagery and frames the west-facing entrance on the eastern building. The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Friday August 5th at 5:00 pm. Join us in celebrating this dynamic public art project!
