Guess what? WasteCap News- 2012 Sustainability Summit Early Registration Discount and Vendor Information!       
The 2012 Sustainability Summit is October 9th and 10th.  The Summit workshop will be held in Lincoln, NE on Wednesday, October 10th at the University Nebraska East Campus.  The Summit will be held in conjunction with WasteCap's 20th Anniversary Celebration Awards Luncheon also held at East Campus on Wednesday.  A ticket to the Summit includes a ticket to the luncheon!  The Summit will feature our keynote speaker, Auden Schendler, Vice President of Sustainability at Aspen Skiing Company.  There are also break out sessions with wonderful speakers highlighting the topics of Energy, Tools and Resources for Sustainability Planning/Tracking, Zero Waste, Employee Engagement, Green Certification, and Green Marketing/Branding.

WasteCap News- Call for Sustainable Business Awards Nominations

WasteCap Nebraska is pleased to announce the call for nominations for its Sustainable Business Awards, to be presented during the luncheon at the Sustainability Summit on October 10th, 2012. In order to be eligible for an award, nominees must be a member of WasteCap Nebraska, but nominations may be made by any person or entity. Organizations may submit an awards application for their own company.

WasteCap News- Upcoming Green Team Roundtable in Hastings, Updates on Lincoln, Minden, and Omaha GTRs  

Hastings, July 18th- Prairie Loft will be the location of a "Hastings green team" kick-off meeting. The meeting is sponsored by Chief Ethanol Fuels in Hastings and organized by local businesses and individuals. Prairie Loft is located just west of Hastings on 4705 Dld Road. The lunch meeting will be catered by Back Alley Bakery in Hastings.

WasteCap News- Offering Free CFL Recycling Program to Nebraska Businesses

WasteCap Nebraska invites Nebraska businesses to join the Another Bright Idea network to recycle used Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) at no cost. By providing this free recycling service to employees, it demonstrates that reducing environmental impact is a priority in your company.

News - Lincoln Bicycle Commuter Challenge

As of June 30, 2012, WasteCap staff has biked a total of 373 miles as part of Endomondo's National Bike Challenge.  One hundred sixteen of those miles were biked in June by The Unwasted bike team, made up of WasteCap staff members Chant� Bauer, Neil Tabor and Julie Diegel.  By biking instead of driving, we've saved a total of 342 pounds of CO2 so far and have saved $171 in fuel and vehicle wear-and-tear since the beginning of the challenge in May 2012.

WasteCap News- Gardens, Gardens, and more Gardens!
Gardens are hard work. Lots of up-keep, watering, and weeding.  So, we thought we'd feature those hard-working people who are proud of their lovely gardens.  
We had pictures submitted from Select Van & Storage, Robinette Farms, as well as WasteCap Staff.
News- Grants Still Available for Electronic Waste Collection Events      
Up to $8,000 is available to any community or organization, particularly "underserved" areas of Nebraska, for electronic waste collection events. A complete manual with instructions on how to run an event is available
HERE. This is a turn-key operation for electronic waste collection events.

News- Nebraska Environmental Trust Celebrates 20 Years   
One recent example of the NET's strong support for conservation issues is the grant provided to the Nebraska State Recycling Association (NSRA) for the Small Equipment Grant Program.  Anyone in need of assistance to enhance their community recycling program is eligible to apply to the NSRA, which then vets the request for a quick turnaround of funds to purchase such items as balers, trailers, forklifts or similar recycling equipment.  Requests for an application should be directed to Deb Rost, NSRA executive director, at deb@recyclenebraska.org or by calling 402/933-3059.

Member News- Recycling Enterprises assists with Boy Scouts collection event

LINCOLN, Neb., June 5, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Lincoln community has proven once again they have what it takes to "Think Yellow, Go Green" by recycling more than 51,000 pounds of outdated telephone directories. The annual recycling program was supported by The Berry Company, LLC, and the Cornhusker Council Boy Scouts.
