January 2011

Greetings!

Here is your January newsletter. In it you will find updates to some of our programs, as well as paper prices.

In early February we are going to be calling service providers and recyclers alike to discuss our guidebook. Bryan LGH has taken it upon themselves to print it this year... in color! We are very excited for this change. We hope you will help us reach our goal number of sold ads. This will in turn help us continue to provide news, programs, and resources to the Nebraska recycling community.

We also wanted to remind all our members out there to send in their yearly volumes. In your 2010 member packet, you received a volume reporting form. Please fill it out and return it by Friday, February 11th. The form can be found for download at http://www.wastecapne.org/wp-content/uploads/Member-volume-report-form.pdf, or we can e-mail it to you.  Contact Takeitback@wastecapne.org for questions.

Green Ambassadors - Update
The Green Ambassadors program is in full swing. WasteCap has Ambassadors working in Lincoln and Omaha. Now is the time to call and schedule your Green Ambassadors presentation.

Green Ambassadors give presentations on product stewardship. Your group will learn what product stewardship means, whose responsibility it is, and ways to implement a product stewardship program in your business.

This program concluded in third quarter of 2010 after supporting 12 collection events in as many communities, and diverting 138,946 pounds of electronic waste from Nebraska landfills.

Finishing Technologies - Update
The highlight of 4th quarter 2010 was the successful application and completion of a Department of Labor Worker Training Program Grant for WasteCap Nebraska's Finishing Technology Certification class. This grant was applied for by the Nebraska City Area Economic Development Corporation in conjunction with WasteCap Nebraska. It covered 100% of class tuition.
