NHL Sales Continue to Climb
NHL North American sales rose 15% for the just completed regular season. The largest gains were in the electronic games and jerseys categories. Lifestyle apparel skyrocketed 35%. And headwear sales increased 41%.
Are You Going after the Adult Market?
Certainly not the size of the youth market, but the adult market is willing and able to purchase more expensive equipment. They will not outgrow their equipment, so price is less of a consideration, and their purchases are looked at as a long term investment in their preferred entertainment. And surprisingly only a small number of adult players played youth hockey.
How do you find these adult players? Follow the leagues at the rinks.

Assault and Battery?
As first reported by the Quincy Patriot Ledger the parents of Duxbury (Mass.) High senior Tucker Hannon attempted to get Scituate High School player, Alex Way formally brought up on charges of assault and battery. The legal challenge was related to a hit Way delivered on Hannon after the Duxbury player fired a shot in a January game between the schools in Rhode Island. The check, which did not generate a penalty, ended Hannon's season. He had a concussion and missed five weeks of school. Way is 6'4", 225 pounds and Hannon is 5'9", 145 pounds.

However, the Plymouth District Court magistrate found no probable cause to issue a criminal complaint, saying, "I'm not going to sit here as a hockey referee." |
