LIHI's Gala & Auction a Success!

On October 28th, LIHI hosted its annual Gala & Auction at the Hyatt Olive 8 in downtown Seattle. It was an evening to remember - full of good friends, wonderful food, and celebration of LIHI's 20th year. The event raised over $224,000 for LIHI's supportive services and the Urban Rest Stop. Thank you to all of LIHI's generous sponsors and supporters!

Thanksgiving at McDermott Place

On November 21, Congressman Jim McDermott joined the residents of LIHI's McDermott Place for a delicious and festive Thanksgiving dinner, thanks to a generous donation from the Columbia City Lion's Club. The wonderful gourmet meal included turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, salad and pumpkin pie.

McDermott Place provides permanent supportive housing to formerly homeless men and women, including many veterans. During the evening, Congressman McDermott met with many of the residents and heard their stories. He spoke about his own family's experience with homelessness, and stressed how important it is for everyone to have access to affordable housing.

Volunteer Shout-Outs!

This month, LIHI would like to recognize the Garfield High School KEY Club! Leaders of this active group have been involved in our annual Gala & Auction for several years now. Jessica Lee did a fantastic job this year recruiting a large group of volunteers who enthusiastically helped with all aspects of this busy event, including some very heavy lifting of live auction items like a flat screen TV and barrels of wine!

LIHI is excited that we can always count on Garfield High School KEY Club members, and we thank them for their years of service!
