It is a cliche' that if we do not study the past we are condemned to repeat it. Almost equally certain, however, is that if there are lessons to be learned from an historical episode, the political class will draw all the wrong ones - and often deliberately so.

 

In 1846, on a report that the Mexican government was threatening to expel all settlers who were not Mexican citizens,William B.Ide and about thirty settlers conducted what was to become known as the Bear Flag Revolt. On June 14, Ide and the others seized the pueblo of Sonoma and captured the Mexican Commandante of Northern California. On June 15th  Ide released the Proclamation he had written the night before.By noon of June 17, the rebels raised the new California Bear Flag, proclaiming the Mexican province to be the California Republic.

  

On September 11, 2001, Alan Anthony  Beaven, ( scroll down to see Alan Beaven tribute by Senators Feinstein & Boxer) the California Watershed Posse co-founder, was returning to California on United Airlines Flight 93. Alan was just one of many heroes that died that day, but his love of life, family and community required him to do what he had always done...the right thing. The California Watershed Posse will strive to continue Alan's work to preserve his Living Legacy, by protecting Bay Area water quality, maintaining a fire safe healthy watershed, and by doing the right thing for generations to come.  The California Tea Party Posse will stand united with all private sector families to prevent placing the collective  bargaining rights of California's public sector unions above the Unalienable Rights of ALL the People of California.

  

In 2010, Attorney General Jerry Brown provided our WFFPAC's Unalienable Bill of Rights Initiative it's Title & Summary.  On May 14, 2010, the California Secretary of State  authorize the circulation of our Unalienable Bill of Rights petition. Our non- professional Tea Party Posse volunteers gathered over 39,000 registered voter petition signatures on their initial effort. The voters of California have the right to vote on Governor Brown's Tax Extension Initiative in the June 2011 Special Election along with the WFFPAC companion Unalienable Bill of Rights Initiative.

  

The CA Unalienable Bill of Rights will amend and provide the much needed reform to the California Constitution's Declaration of Rights placing ALL the power back into the hands of the People of California...NOT the Public Employees Unions!

  

In 1978, Jerry Brown Signed The Dills Act Which Gave Public Employees Collective Bargaining Rights And Made Them The Most Politically Influential Constituency In California: "State legislators are afraid even to utter the words 'pension reform' for fear of alienating what has become -- since passage of the Dills Act in 1978, which endowed state public employees with collective bargaining rights on top of their civil service protections -- the single most politically influential constituency in our state: government employees." (David Crane, Op-Ed, "California's $500-Billion Pension Time Bomb," Los Angeles Times, 4/6/10) 

  

I conclude this weeks Open Letter To Governor Jerry Brown with a recommendation that the CA Assembly Democrats and Public Employees Union Leaders read todays very politically insightful Wall Street Journal Op/Ed piece titled: The Means of Coercion, The privileged are revolting in Wisconsin.
