The project included a master suite with upgraded bathroom and walk-in closet, an additional bathroom remodel, and a three-season porch underneath the suite.
Although the Birks had done several remodeling projects over the years, the structural changes and the scope of this project were outside their comfort zone and experi-ence. They knew they needed help from a professional remodeler who was willing to partner with them. This solution allowed them to move ahead with the project and manage their costs, with the expectation that the finished remodel would have a professional appearance and add resale value to their home.
Candy says, "Make sure you have a relationship where you are comfortable with the contractor. We chose ProTime because all the evidence pointed to the fact that they were a professional, caring company that produced quality remodels."
Terry adds, "I value Brent's [ProTime owner] under-standing of the trades, his willingness to share his expertise, and his advice on how to get things accom-plished." He continues by saying, "Brent has done a great job of 'filtering through' the subs he uses."
Regarding the work they chose to do on their own, Terry's advice is to choose the things that are worth doing and think about what it will really cost you. Pointing to the bathroom vanity that he added to the master bath, he says, "Pick the things to do that mean something and that you want to show others. Sheetrock doesn't matter."
Candy comments that some of the original work they had planned to do became too demanding because of their busy lives. She was thankful that ProTime was able to step in and help them finish some of that work.
"This was a huge project," Candy adds. "Without Brent's help we would have had less of a remodel than we wanted."
