Purple and Patriotic Bows

By now you should have received a flyer in your newspaper slot or on your porch to order your 2012 Purple and Patriotic Bows. Purple Bows in support of the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer will appear on mailboxes at the end of March. In early May, they will be replaced by Patriotic Bows benefiting Operation at Ease's program of R & R in St. James for military families impacted by deployment. Patriotic Bows will remain up through July 4th.

These projects have truly become St. James traditions. The Purple and Patriotic bows make such a beautiful community-wide display of solidarity in support of these two worthy causes.

Please return your order form and check to the neighborhood representative on your form by March 1st.

If you didn't receive an order form, please contact Annetta Clark at 253-7342 or email aclark821@hotmail.com and she will email a form to you. Please include your name, address and telephone number, so she can tell you the address where you'll be dropping off your order form and money.

Thanks again for your support!

The Fourth Annual Jimbo and Ruth Smith Golf Classic will be held at the Members Club on Wednesday, May 9th at 11 o'clock.

A very special Thank You to the entire St. James Community for supporting this event. St. James P.R.I.D.E. Seeks Volunteers

Research shows that cleaner roadways have a several benefits: 1-people are less likely to throw things out of their car windows if the roadways are well-kept; 2-the perceived value of the community is increased (i.e., desirability of living there, home valuations, etc.); 3-less food garbage means fewer animals foraging and ending up as roadkill; and 4-reducing cigarette butt litter means less opportunity for accidental fires. Nature, your home and the environment are protected in all of these.

Our volunteers will remove litter from 2-miles of Hwy. 211 this coming Saturday (March 3rd) starting at 9:00 am. We are usually done by 10:30 am. For more information or to pre-register to help, just send an e-mail to either Steve Cherry (scherry3@ec.rr.com) or Sandy Cherry (sandy.cherry@gmail.com) or call us at 910-253-9022.

Clean The Highway is our flagship litter removal program. We do this 4-5 times per year.
