Greetings!
It's been a busy few weeks here at Lighthouse and we wanted to share with you some of the fun that has been happening. We have VERY exciting news below. Rather than give it away...you'll just have to scroll down below...or click here Were you one of the people who watched the Royal Wedding and thought, it would be cool to be part of a Royal family? If you are you reading this, you are obviously already a member of Lighthouse Liquors and you get all the benefits associated with being a member. 2011, at 1:36am weighing in at 10 pounds 1 ounce. Marci is doing well and is of course excited to get back to work...well ok, maybe not. Baby Scelza is healthy and seems to be happy to join the team at Lighthouse.

| More Exciting News
We got the call the other day from the North Hawaii Newspaper...sharing the results of their "Best of North Hawaii" poll... and we were told that Lighthouse Delicatessen has been voted The Best Sandwich by their readers! We were incredibly excited and honored. Be sure to get a copy of North Hawaii News' "Best Of" issue for a special discount for Lighthouse Delicatessen.
But wait...there's MORE! AAA (formerly known as the  American Automobile Association) sent one of their undercover representatives to the Delicatessen for lunch. A few days later we were notified that Lighthouse Delicatessen had received the "AAA Approved Restaurant" rating. Wow. They will be writing us up in their guide books and putting us on all their Hawaii Maps...what an honor!

Marques de Gelida, Pinot Noir Brut Rose
This is a gorgeous and juicy rose made from 100% Pinot Noir. Wonderful red rose to salmon skin color, with ample aromas of cherry, strawberry and spice. It has a medium bodied, soft and fruity palate with a great refreshing finish. Aged two years in bottle before released.

Villa Mt Eden, Pinot Noir
Aromas of cherries, strawberries and cola lead to rich and  complex flavors of red fruit with an earthy accent note. This medium-bodied Pinot Noir exhibits refined acidity and soft, well-structured tannins. A complex and elegant wine, with a lingering, seductive finish.

"Typical Villa Maria, with that extra dimension of aroma and varietal flavour common to all its wines; tropical notes of passion fruit marry with ripe citrus and gooseberry fruit flavours, the finish long and balanced." - 94 Points, James Halliday "Refreshing and vibrant, offering tangerine and lime-tinged nectarine and green apple flavors that keep sailing through the long, generous and lively finish." - 93 Points, Wine Spectator Henry Fessy, Beaujolais The Beaujolais 2009 is very fruity and reveals perfectly the tipicity of Gamay in a great vintage: red fruit, round tannins and mellowness. A real pleasure on the palate. The Gamay grape finds its home in France's Burgundy region where it is responsible for the red wines of Beaujolais. Producing light to medium bodied wines with modest tannins and good acidity, Gamay is unfairly associated with Beaujolais Nouveau. It is capable of producing wonderful, cherry and raspberry flavored wines with earthy hints of violets and spice. |

Brewery of the Month: Lost Coast Brewery
Lost Coast Brewery is run by two women who
make outstanding beer in Humboldt County... We make an effort to bring all of their beers to Kohala because they are so incredibly tasty. We've gotten a few new ones in, including their scrumptious beer: Tangerine Wheat. Also a mind-altering IPA, brilliantly named Indica, which is available in both 6 packs and Bomber size.
It's always good and fun to try new things. Sure it's scary, but hey, this is BEER we are talking about, and if you spend some time speaking with one of our beer experts, we'll help you choose something that will be pleasing to your palate.

 Lighthouse Delicatessen Sharing the love...
Have you ever seen that Dunkin Donuts commercial where the man wakes up before the roosters and gleefully mumbles..."Time to make the donuts.."
That's what I often think about when I go to the Delicatessen first thing in the morning. However, it's not just the pretzels the guys are making in the morning. The Delicatessen opens at 10am (Sundays for brunch at 9) but the team arrives much earlier than that to get the day going. After the coffee is poured, Rick gathers bread and prepares the pretzels. Chris and Nicholas (the stellar father and son sandwich team) prepare the  sandwich board and anything else that needs making that day. Sometimes they are roasting the turkey, making stuffing and homemade cranberry sauce for the Thanksgiving Sandwich. Other times, it's slicing cucumbers and preparing the side salads.
Regardless of their tasks that morning, the team is always pouring their passion and hard work into what they do, and that's before the doors even open. They were all very excited to hear about the AAA and North Hawaii accolades, high fives were thrown around, but then they looked around and said, ok, let's get back to work.
When people walk into the Delicatessen, they see everyone having fun and moving like a well-oiled machine. It seems effortless. However, the team behind the counter puts a lot of hard work and effort into making it seem effortless. Kudos to the Lighthouse Team for following their passion and sharing their love with the community.

Pau Hana Specials at the Deli 4-6pm Come and enjoy daily wine, beer, and food specials at the Delicatessen. Monday-Friday from 4-6pm we will be offering Pau Hana specials and a chance to take a breather after work. We'll see you then. June 14th Wine Tasting.  Tasty Tuesdays are back. Kristin from Chambers and Chambers is bringing some very special wines to Lighthouse Liquors on Tuesday, June 14th from 4-6pm. July 8th Wine Dinner at the Delicatessen A few weeks ago we had a fun-filled beer/food pairing dinner with Sierra Nevada. If you missed that, it's OK, because this time around we're doing a wine/food pairing dinner. Five different wines with matching food courses. Mark your calendar and let us know if you are interested. Whenever You Want... Lighthouse Delicatessen is available to you and your family and  friends for private dining at night.
