Did You Know...
Greetings!

We have a lot to share in this months issue. It all begins with highlights of the new Seasonal Beers that have arrived. These won't be around forever, so don't waste any more time and come and check them out in person! There's also more exciting news from Lighthouse Delicatessen. Just in time for the holidays, Xavier once again digs into his little black book of libations to give you some recipes which will make your holidays even more festive! And great news...the King and Queen Member wines are ready for pick up or delivery. People love our Did You Know section, which is filled with completely random informative fun facts. Finally, if you like connecting to social networks, we have a few different sites where you can see or add pictures, write a review, and just share with your friends.

Much Aloha and Cheers
~ Your Lighthouse Crew

beerJust in time for the holidays!
Breweries love making holiday beer and we love it too!

If you like beer or know someone who does, you will want to make sure to come up to the store to check out some of these new arrivals.

Anchor Steam Christmas Ale

We love when this fantastic ale arrives at ourasxmas doorstep. Every year since 1975 the brewers at Anchor have brewed a distinctive and unique Christmas Ale, which is available from early November to mid-January. The Ale's recipe is different every year-as is the tree on the label-but the intent with which they offer it remains the same: joy and celebration of the newness of life. Since ancient times, trees have symbolized the winter solstice when the earth, with its seasons, appears born anew. Their tree for 2010 is the Ginkgo biloba tree.

Jubelale from Deschutes Brewery

Those who know of this beer may get mad at me for telling jubelaleyou about this amazing seasonal brew...sorry to those folks. Brewed with dark crystal malt creating a luscious holiday note with bountiful hops to excite your taste buds- it's easy to see why Jubelale is the perfect complement to the season.

For the past 16 years, Deschutes Brewery has selected a local Oregon artist to create an image evocative of the season's festive atmosphere.  The intricate and unique art on the label enhances the Jubelale experience much like beautiful wrapping paper enhances a gift.

This year, Oregon artist Natasha Bacca's unique "creation of light" adorns the label. Bacca says, "This piece illustrates a cold winter night in the background with a dynamic warm fire in the foreground. I wanted the composition of the work to exhibit a balance of cool scenery elements with the warm and energetic celebrations of the season, exemplifying this festive time of year."

Widmer Brrr Seasonal Ale
widmer
It's new to Lighthouse Liquors but one taste of this, and you will wish winter lasted forever! This is what Widmer has to say about it... Got the holiday blues? Out of ideas as to what to get that special someone? Don't worry, Kurt and Rob Widmer have the answer - give the gift of beer! More specifically, Brrr! Widmer's hard working brewmasters have handcrafted this year's edition special for the holiday season.

kingKing and Queen Membership Wines

If you are a King or Queen member, we are happy to tell you that your monthly wines are in!

If you are not a King or Queen member, do you realize what you're missing out on? First of all, the 10% and 7.5%
discounts, respectively, on all your wine, beer and liquor purchases. That's pretty sweet but what's even better are the wines you get each month. As a Queen member you get a red and white wine which are valued at more than the cost of your monthly membership fee. A King member gets those two wines...plus two more, with the King fee (not a king's ransom...) which is less than the cost of those four wines.

This month we're proud to supply our royalty with the following wines!

Queen Membership

Argiolas Costamolinoargiolas
Costamolino is straw yellow in color with green highlights and an intense yet delicate bouquet that displays distinct characteristics of the variety. Supple aromas of citrus, pineapple, tropical fruits and honey are wonderfully supported by a zesty acidity. Delicate and pleasantly refreshing on the palate, Costamolino is the wine of choice for many dishes, from fish antipasti and pastas to vegetables terrine, salads, white meat casseroles, and risotto. Delicious with Asian food and sushi. (Vermentino)

Cetamura Chianticetamura
A bright, intense red color with the essence of cherries and ripe wild berries in the nose.  A soft, balanced, full-flavored wine with good structure.  Well balanced acidity accompanied by a long clean finish. (The blend is Sangiovese & Canaiolo)

King Membership
 grahams
Grahams Six Grapes Port
Fruity & robust, Six Grapes is blended to drink like a young Vintage Port.   Notes of fig, dried cherries and dark berries; perfect balance for holiday chocolates.  Or pumpkin pie.

Selbach Dry Riesling 2007selbach1
Crisp, refreshing, bright acidity and dry finish.  Clean minerality as you would expect from German slate. A great alternative to Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Gris.

Everyone is a minority in Hawaii-there are no racial majorities. Haoles or Caucasians, constitute about 33% of the population, Japanese about 33%, Filipino-Americans about 16%, and Chinese-Americans about 5%. Most of the population has mixed ethnicity
